Thanks for the info. Really didn't want to sell my brand new radio. I'm just now starting to figure out how the darn thing works. A lot more to learn however. Maybe someday I'll get into 70cm. I was out with TRAL a couple of week ago and most of them still running CBs. ??? Maybe I'll start...
Well I took my exam last night. Passed with flying colors. Now I need to learn two more minor things before I can make use of my new ham radio -- what can I do with the radio and how the h*** can I do it?? :( No call sign yet so can't start chatting until Monday or Tuesday. One question...
Going to take the exam in south Phoenix on the 8th. (I think) And about all those questions, I've decided it's best not to muddle the mind with facts when I'm trying to memorize the question bank. I'll corner someone later and ask away. Thanks
OK - I bought a Ham hand-held radio. Got a Yaesu FT-252. Been studing for the the test and wondering who is available in CSC to give the test and when do they do so? Not ready yet but looking for info. Also, like all newbies I have a lot of questions. Is there someone I can talk to who wouldn't...
If you have a smart phone try the app, Ham Tech. I have it on my iphone and it works great. Or atleast I think it does. LOL Let you know more when I pass the test.
I got the Yaesu FT-252 since it's only $75 and they say it's water proof. Don't think I'll throw this one overboard to test it but I won't worry about rain and such.
Hello Again - It's been awhile but I've been real busy. Been thru 3 Tacos, 2 houses and 1 wife. All for the better and much much more. See you tonight.
I have a set of Bestop Soft doors for an FJ40. Come with striker plates and bag to store top 1/2. Asking $250. Can have then at the CSC meet this Friday night. I also have lots of other 40 parts. (All used and need rebuild) PM me for a list if you are interested.
I tried that once. Decided to warm up a pot roast under the hood of my BMW while traveling in Europe. Somewhere in France I managed to short out the only frigging wire under the hood that wasn't 'fused'. The primary lead to the coil. (old BMW!) Managed to discount the battery and keep the car...
Please define "TLC". Looks great to me. What does it need. I'm looking for something I can drive at freeway speeds then do some 4 wheeling and drive home. How it she on the highway?
Like JJG I've not run Telegraph or ajax mine so I'm all for it. I've run Box Canyon and Cottonwood in both directions and that's fun. Box Canyon can be a bit of a challenge but with just a little care you can get through with all the original paint on your truck. I'll keep watching for 'when and...
Finally got to talk with my son. Seems the 29th there's a ASU basketball game and football game so he will be in Tempe most of the day. Sooooo, I don't need empty seats for the run. I still plan to be there so I'll keep watching for up dates. Thanks anyway for the offer to haul my relations around.
Thanks for the offer. My son will be in town wednesday and I'll know more about our plans at that time. For now I'll try to keep up with the post and see just where we're going.
Ray
What's the latest on this run? Are there any new plans? I'm still interested and still "think" I'll need a couple of extra seats for visiting relatives.
Had really planned to be there!! Even talked the wife into going. (Had to promise her the trail wouldn't scare the $%*@ out of her) However --- my niece's baby girl decided to enter the world 2 weeks early. She's 8 lbs 7 ozs of joy and has disrupted everyone's week-end. Hopefully I can make the...
