The EGR j-tube can get rusty and loose.

    Fuel delivery (system) problem.

Super crazy having a piece of paper block your tube. My tank was full of rust and my pick up tube was mostly blocked with rust. Now I ffffdup relining the tank so I have to clean it with acetone. I am going to put it back in bare with a new pick up tube that has a filter.

    Simple Aisan Carburetor Question..anyone?

I ran into this same issue. I think some fuel can flow around the needle as it opens but even more can flow from those holes - the bigger holes are better. I thought using the one with the big holes would solve my problems. I still had trouble with fuel getting into the bowl and it was the...

Fuel leak out of gas cap. (FJ62)

If after opening the cap there is no "spew" then I think the charcoal canister is doing its job. I "rebuilt" my charcoal canister. It has an upper and lower filter disc with charcoal media in between. I changed out the old charcoal with new. The old didn't look too bad but reaked of...

    FJ60 fuel cut off solenoid

What happened with mine was that the fusible link over by the battery that protected the circuit that the FCS was on was almost burnt through and just hanging on by a couple of wires. So maybe check that!

Good source for cargo area carpet (only)?

We used brown office carpet with a pad underneath it. Matches pretty closely the original color. An upholsterer cut and attached it to the back seat and then it is one solid piece to the tail gate.

New Fuel tank, but no fuel

That is good info and not a bad price for how important it is. Can't seem to find the part but I did find a fuel tank, 77001-60241, priced at 770.12.

New Fuel tank, but no fuel

Hello I was wondering if the 86 fj60 has the same internal fuel tank lines as my May 1984 FJ60 - other than I think the early FJ60's had no in the tank filter? I found the line that curves and lays flat (which is probably the send line) was 95% clogged with rust. I blew compressed air through...

    Fuel delivery (system) problem.

Rebuilt my carburetor this past weekend. Found that the needle valve seat was inferior/different than the oem and one you can get from CityRacer. The seat is supposed to have 4 big holes but the keyster kit seat only had 2 microscopic holes. The CityRacer matches the OEM one. Funny thing is...

    Fuel delivery (system) problem.

Glad you got it figured out and that it is running well. I rebuilt my carb but found some of the keyster replacement parts are junk. The pump plunger boot and rubber gasket thing at the bottom end tore apart almost immediately. The keyster needle valve doesn't have a viton tip like the...

Any progress on fixing your problem with fuel starvation?

Vacuum Leak? Vacuum gauge showing 12 mercury from intake.

If I recall correctly I had to lightly sand the top off my insulator because the tan molded on gasket was looking pretty bad. I then added a gasket that I made from a sheet of fuel resistant gasket material. In your other post you mentioned low fuel in the fuel bowl. You should check your...

    Carb leaking Fuel

I think you need a couple more photos zoomed out more and from other angles cause I really can't tell what is going on with this one photo. I think I made my own gasket between the carb and the insulator. Did you get the Partol FJ40 carb off of Amazon?

What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Wow that screen is pretty dirty. If you still have any trouble with seeing enough fuel in the sight glass don't forget that the needle valve can get stuck - even a new one. A few taps on the outer part of the carb where it is located with a wooden or brass drift will knock it loose.

What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

This 84 FJ60 had a leaky left brake caliper. I started the knuckle rebuild about 6 weeks ago. I sourced brake parts from RockAuto, knuckle and wheel bearings from cruiserteq, and lug studs and nuts from Wit's End. Clean up and painting was what took the longest. Pictured is the left side...

Drum brakes over-adjusting and getting hot after rebuild

Faye Hadley just dropped this video a few hours ago on rear drum brake work on a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. Very similar layout.

Drum brakes over-adjusting and getting hot after rebuild

I was just wondering how the cruiser guru's balance the front and rear brakes this morning. I have yet to test mine on the road since servicing them but I think I didn't "coat non-melt [high temp] type grease on the backing plate at surfaces contacting the shoes" (chassis & body 1980 fig 9-276)...

    Inner axle seal offset driver

Thanks, I found another kit that has about a 44.4 mm, 49.9 mm and 59 mm (it is a SAE set) that I can borrow.

    Inner axle seal offset driver

I am borrowing a driver set from work and the biggest sizes are 32/36 mm, 35/40 mm and 38/42 mm. Anybody know the actual diameter of the inner seal for the FJ60/FJ80? There is a fairly comprehensive YouTube video by 2nd gear low and he recommend >= 55 mm at time stamp 27:18. Toyota Landcruiser...
