Great Day! This would be a good run for a short day for folks in the Greenville/Clemson area. We went as far as we could ( some stuff is closed this time of year) to Jumping Off Rock overlook. Then came back down and drove to Brevard for lunch at Noblebrau Brewing. The view is worth the drive.
Ok folks, got all my fluids changed, going to try out my FJ Cruiser tomorrow around noonish at Jumping Off/ Laurel Mountain trail as mentioned above. I can make some PBJ's for anyone who lets me know they are coming! Short venture, maybe 2 hours. Good weather, let's GO! :)
Raymond525, Let me check with my family on what their plans are for Sunday. Maybe I'll change dates till then. I still need to do my differentials on the FJ, god knows the last time fluid has been changed in them and it would be good to have that done before the trail ride. I did my transfer...
Hey All, would anyone be interested in doing Jumping Off trail/ Laurel Fork Mountain off 11 near Jocassee quick run/lunch on Saturday? I never made an event with my FJ 40 before I sold it, but picked up a FJ Cruiser barn find that I got working.. just going to dust off the cobwebs. It's an easy...
Starting to go through my leftover parts. I have a 75 Heater Control Valve, which worked when I took it off last year. $25.00 with $5.00 shipping or pick it up locally for free .. in Clemson, SC
Hey Folks,
I just sold my 75 FJ40 and have some spares left. I have jumpseats in pretty good condition with belts ($400 for everything), complete aftermarket front seats with mounts and belts and a center storage box ($200.00), a poly gas tank with OEM cover ($100.00 for both), never used...
Sorry was trying to post in classified, can't see a way to do that for some reason. I bought these thinking I would use them with wider tires but kept the closer to stock width instead. New in box. Can meet you within 25 miles of Clemson for the 275 price. Shipping is crazy stupid but will do...
Valley Hybrids do have them. $24.00 for each shim and $4.98 for the longer bolt. My aluminum ones for the pair with the bolt were $25.00 from CCOT. I may just wait till the aluminum ones start to fail and then replace them at this cost. I get that they have to be fabbed and stuff, so I think...
Great Day! I went ahead and installed the CCOT aluminum 4 degree spring shims ( I understand steel is the way to go, but the hassle of return, while I can test what I have is a wash). The difference in steering was a total game-changer. I can now run above 45 mph without fearing death. It's...
Thanks, Shark. I think my plan will be to try to figure out how to measure my pinion angle, ( I am sure there should be a post on this somewhere) and if it is close enough to 4 degrees, just go ahead and add the shims and see what happens. This isn't a daily driver and I can modify the shim with...
Thanks 1911. This is helpful.
Thanks 1911 and Shark56,
It's steering wander. I don't have any unusual vibrations that I can feel. I have a 350 with a Saginaw steering unit. Before the lift, it was a small pucker factor.. ( the springs, perch pins and shackles were 100% gone, the suspension was...
Hi Everyone,
Maybe a stupid question, but before I make a mistake, the 4-degree shims for a raised suspension go on the front axle, correct? I bought mine from CCOT and their directions state:
HFS Spring shims counter problems caused by installing taller than stock height shackles. Caster...
Hey All,
Congrats Joestewart! I think the windshield stuff is the most frustrating thing I have done in my build. I did manage to get it finished yesterday after a month of messing with it. I had a local glass guy help me with it ( it took a couple of visits till we got it right ) I learned...
