Looking for the unicorn: an inexpensive, secure, goat/dog/ coyote-proof, snow-friendly driveway gate. fj60 resurrection was already in the works when some <insert yr own words> stole from commuter rig, parked 10'+ up the snowy driveway. thieves plucked personal EMT work gear: fanny pack...

    Landbruiser Resurrection, a lil help?

Long time member, got side-railed by life, just now getting back to a better self (one hopes). Could use my Mud Family's help getting the Landbruiser running again. Thinking I'll get it towed, to IVS or Quirk's, will need full fluid change & diagnostics. What cost should I anticipate?

    Meet Radio, the latest foster

Ms Radio was dropped at my DVM's office, snagged from a road about 10mi away by a good samaritan. The finder couldn't keep her, she didn't have a collar, and the vet was busy, wondered if I knew any local rescues. Gave them some info, and offered to foster her for a week, to provide some time...

started right up, 2 months parked

One of the many ways I cherish my FJ60 is that it is content to sit as yard art/power tool protector (i park it in front of my shed) until needed, then fire's right up. ain't drove it since july, it served well today in posting political signs and did small wheeln as a treat. truth is...

    Dog Show Camping

It's like expedition camping, minus the bumpities. Every site is different, this is one of the worst, locking down the grass camping w/no in/out options. So we chose the next best thing, a tree for shade, about .25m from the show in the Other Direction from the big RVs w/slide-outs and loud...

    How to pick a contractor?

Biz w/ good rep that can't fit you for 3 months, or coworker who will match the price and do the work tomorrow? Roofing is the primary task, flooring next, putting the tax credit back into the house. I trust the coworker in that I can leave town w/my dogs and he'll get it done while I'm gone...

How to pick color for metal re-roofing project?

How to pick a color? Definately going w/EnergyStar, to get the 30% materials rebate, but that still leaves way too many choices. A fellow home-owner suggested green, to blend in w/the woods, but I'm not feeling it, since the house is only 50' from the road (feels much further when shoveling...

Green Chile (maybe Red) the stuff that grows in the ground

Not Texas style beans n chili, the unadulturated Green stuff (which matures when dried to Red). It is one of the Three Sisters, ancestral food for natives, with beans and corn completing the food triangle. They grow together in harmony, each helping the other. (links to come here) Comes...

post 'em up here, as the social forum doesn't allow attachments. yes, I searched. 26 threads... I'll start, since I've apparently become a target. pups born of a dog who sat upon my lap (voicing my opinion about another item) my mare Sissy, with her friends, on my...

    Outdoor sleeping cabana

Anybody built one? It's hotter-n-heck here right now (happens couple times a year), and even the 50gal fish tank is in the 80's, due to ambient temps. My current feverish dream is of a canvas topped?, bug-screened (still get a few mosquitos every now and then at this altitude) wood-floored...

    98 volvo v70 xc

any input? searched, read the manual, been driven around in it: do like. And I'll get used to the dark green color. otherwise, any reason NOT to: have a/c, wicked sound system, heated leather seats, moonroof, awd, and 26mpg? Dobers fit nicely, and it'd allow my 60 to become the expo/wheeln...
