What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

My kids helped me install the cup holder from @bhicks . This is the second one I’ve purchased from him. Last one was in the beige 80. Good product and definitely a luxury to have.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Driving the heck out of it now that it’s running like it should. Next I need to drain and fill the PS, Brake, Diffs, Transfer case, transmission, and coolant. Then do the front crank seal and oil pump seal.

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

So I thought I was done, but it had a slow start/long crank situation. I read a bunch on here and google searching my symptoms. Had a strong gas smell from the exhaust after the long crank startup. I guess one of the inexpensive Amazon injectors was bad internally. They have OEM part numbers on...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I stole them off my 2nd gen Tundra. I’ll buy a new set for the tundra next time I’m at Cabela’s. Definitely a great value.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Fancified my wife’s seat. Cabela’s low back bucket seat cover. Was a pain to get buckled and cinched down tight, but it’s way better than the flaking crusty exposed foam seat. And it’s only $20ish. And now it’s in full on sports cruiser mode. Tailgate for life.

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

Buttoned it all back up and it’s running like a champ. Only one small drip of fuel from the filter. I’ll replace that tomorrow. Huge win so far. Thanks everyone for the help and knowledge and experience on this one. I found a website from a fellow cruiser-head who documented the same...

New belts, distributor o-ring and injectors have arrived. Will get those installed after lunch. Cross your fingers.

    Considering `91 Vanagon -> `95-`97 FJZ80

I (like many on this forum) have owned 100, 200, 100, 80, 80. Still have a 100 for my wife and an 80 for me. I really liked the 100 over the 200 for the same reason you stated above “the 200 was too nice” and it didn’t have the same driving characteristics I liked about the 100. BUT now anytime...

What did you do with your Tundra or Sequoia this weekend?

The angle and lighting make it look some shade of gray. Looks 👍

I did put some paper towels in there after this picture. Good suggestion!

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

All six injectors have power to the connector when checked with a test light. Man it feels good to be a gangster: That’s the #6 injector directly under the spot where the hvac control was leaking down onto it. After I changed the hvac control valve, it never ran the same again. Makes sense...

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

Actually in the middle of that diagnosis as I type: started about an hour ago.

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

Ok, so I went down a rabbit hole. But before I did, I did a proper vacuum test by blocking off the intake manifold with a rubber glove and a layer of plastic wrap with a tight rubber band. Nothing was escaping the intake. I hooked up a hose to the brake booster inlet on the intake and blew into...

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

When I hook the vacuum gauge up and hit the throttle, vacuum drops to ZERO! Some internet reading says potential plugged exhaust/cats???

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

Replaced the sensor. No change. Going to change the oil and do a smoke test inside the garage. Will see what happens

Vacuum Leak - Spark Plug tube seals?

@ITRJ I’m going to do the temp sensor, since I’m throwing parts at this beast. Will this work? It says it fits and is 2 wire plug.
