You know you only live once. You don't want to get old and look back and think I wonder what that Big Block would have been like in that old FJ40?
Actually that is true for everything in life........
Have Fun and Love what you are doing and who you are doing it with!

Actually; With Aluminum heads, etc. It is less than 25lb's different than a iron head small block Chevy. Some people carry more weight from mud on their shoes than that. :)
It does fit very well, of course I am using all Chevy transmission and 205 t-case.

If you want power and something reliable, the Big Block Chevy is the choice. An aluminum radiator will take care of your cooling issues in 90% of the cases. You could go with some of the other GM big blocks, but only if you have a light foot. I know some of the small block guys may complain, but...
You will like the 9" rear. I have one in mine now for 15 years. I originally resplined 2 long stock toyota axles. These are now twisted about 1/4 to 1/2 turn.:) I am just now upgrading to Moser axles w/ 35 spline. I did get the round track axles with the wider bearings. Please post how noisy...
I do not know how the factory does it? I have built race engines for over 20 years. Everything from Nascar engines to Drag Harley engines. This is my experience on these type of things. Let me know if you give this adjustment type a try. It is very easy and very accurate.
Have a good Weekend...
I do not want to come across wrong here. But what you said would not be correct. If you do adjust your valves like that it explains why you have to turn them down 1 full turn. What you then really have then is some valve lifters set at 1 turn down and others only at about 1/8 turn down{if your...
Valve Adjusting Procedure Enclosed
Do you have the intake on the engine? It is about 100 times easier to adjust the valves with it off it you are not use to doing the adjustment. You can watch the lifter plunger this way. Your half of turn is correct from the point where the pushrod to rocker...
Just wanted to comment on balancing. The straight 6 crank balances by itself. What I mean by this is that the weight of the pistons and rods, (based on the idea that they these components weigh the same), does not matter to the balance.
Crank balances alone. (need balancing machine)
Big end...
I have BBC, 3" dual exhaust, out the back, and 50 series flowmaster mufflers. I have not started this combination yet. I have used these mufflers in a 2 1/2" system and they had a nice sound. I used the 40 series flowmasters many years back and they were TOO loud. I remember riding with the top...
My brother had a built 355ci with the stock 4 speed. He never had any trouble out of the transmission. He did crack the transfer case one time. I believe he did this on the road in 2wd.

It was a burgandy color when I got it. I am not sure of the original color but the burgandy is in every crack of the body. It needs a lot of bodywork, but that will have to be the last thing I do. Got to be running good first! :)
It is a coil spring on 39.5" Irok's. I have not driven it this way yet. I did have 16.5/38" on it before. You don't do much street drag racing with it. :)
Forest is in the middle of VA. Next to Lynchburg, northeast of Roanoke.
I have a rollcage to complete and some work on the rears. They are the major things. I also have a lot of rough detail work to complete.

Just wanted to send out a few pictures with the front sitting in place. (they will come in additional messages) Still a long way to go for the GSMTR this year.
