Thanks a lot Coolerman, I had forgotten about your site, it's a great resource!
Here's a pic of my front cylinders, Under the adjuster spings they are numbered 51, 52(2), and 54.
My rear had a single piston and a dual piston on each side, don't know if thats normal or not.
Ok, I've gottin around to rebuilding the wheel cylinders in my drum brake equiped 68 fj40. I ordered up all the kits with seals and new pistons online and when I went to put everything back together, I noticed the new parts for the front cylinders are too small. My cylinders have the TEQ tag and...
I have a 68 FJ40 with a Chebby 350 with (afaik) stock axles and drums all around. It's been sitting for years and recently has been relegated to ranch duty. Only problem is the wheel cylinders leak and the front right blew out, so now I have no brakes at all. Now are they rebuildable and if so...
I picked up some Valspar Tractor and Implement enamal in Massy Ferguson gray from Tractor Supply. I just smeared a little on my wheel and it's a pretty close match, just a tad darker, it may change once it dries. I also got some of the Valspar hardener to try with the Ace paint, hopefully it...
Question.. Is the rear sill spot welded to the fender in the wheel well area? The wing tip part?
Looking at the right side of my chopped off sill curvey bit I can see 2 spot welds in the center of the channel. One right above where the corner reflector mounted, and one closer to the end...
It was a pain mainly because the PO cut the original out aswell as butchered the the bed and fenderwells. It's a CCoh!T sill and channel that needed some tweeking but is still pretty good quality, no way I could build one from scratch. I also used parts of their corner channels and patch panels.
Nice job!
Where can I get some of that hardener? I've let this Ace paint cure for several months and it gets damaged really easy. Also the paint has little shine to it. Did you clear coat or does the hardener make the paint shiny?
I had to weld up the body mount holes and redrill them in the right spot. Also had to trim the sill cover and move it around, but the fricken thing is done! Now on to the bed....
Also check to see if the exhaust is clogged up. Had a warrior once that wouldn't run for crap, wasted a lot of time replacing crap then I started it with the pipe removed and it ran great, The baffle was completely clogged.
I have a new in box 38/38 Weber carb kit that the PO of my 78 bought from JT Outfitters. This kit here, 38/38 Weber Carb Kit for Land Cruiser - JTOutfitters
