It becomes a choice between buying remanufactured of possibly unknown parts and quality or getting a good core and fresh up that. Since finding the good core would be difficult would you think tearing down a remanufactured would be redundant?
The shop that installed it did notch it, it is depicted in that top down picture. Hard to say if it was necessary or not but that tiny space came in clutch the time I had to remove the snorkel for the xpel wrap.
Your use case is similar to ours and we hope to ride this baby into retirement and beyond. Sounds like you have a handle on the maintenance and basic things. At this point I’d get out and get to camping, you’ll fill up a list of wants quick.
I don’t think the factory privacy glass will keep...
sure, it’s got 4 wheels and an engine which makes it a car but it’s also a representation of all the memories it’s made possible for you and whoever has gone anywhere in it.
We got ours a 3 years ago and it was originally known as “daddy’s car”. That was until our first major multi week...
Update to this thread.
Hazzard Fabworks still sells their anti rattle hitch thing. I called last week and they have them on the shelf for $130, shipping is extra. Yay for inflation.
Mine arrived today and I’ll be using it next week. Just test fitting but it appears to be the best fitting...
Curiosity got the better of me so I took off the fog light plate to measure. Lo and behold the wiring loom had broke free and had been resting on the back of the fog lamp. Thankfully, it’s only one wire to repair…
Hole for the grommet is .75.
I’m having issues with mine staying in my front Dissent bumper and I hadn’t considered this as an option. I wonder if this size will work or not for the Dissent?
Going to a different shop sounds like the way to go, the dealer you’re at now doesn’t seem motivated to tear into this project and I can’t say I blame them.
Sucks all around.
First thing first, what is your primary use for this vehicle? If it’s getting groceries it’s probably fine stock, maybe add CarPlay.
Is it camping, trails, towing?? This could go a million different directions as far as places to start go.
If you are not familiar with the maintenance history...
How do you feel about crowds? We had some extra time while in WY at the end of last June, snow had us skip the Bighorns early in our trip, so we went to the Tetons… we had trouble finding parking. I was not prepared for how many people were there and from what we gathered it was worse in...
We did a similar trip with 5 and 6 yr olds (GA-> CO and UT) 2 years ago. Depending on where you’re leaving from in GA and what route you’re taking it can be done in 2 hella long days. Your camping setup will be crucial for moving quick, we tow so we can park and be asleep or cook within...
This is all very true.
He’s achieved the level of notoriety that he’s going to make a large amount of people mad regardless of what he does. He’s at the “don’t read the comments” level of YouTube fame, just keep cashing those checks and move on. I like enough of his stuff, we’re both car...
This is exactly what went through my mind. He was so quick to mention how he would be dragged in the comments for choosing the dealer over LC specific indie shop because the dealer would know how to work on it because it’s so similar to the Thndra, then tells us how he’s on his 3rd alternator...
