Was My 40 a different color?

Seems your Cruiser was Spring Green in a former life

Saudi 75 Too - Tilda Bogue Service Station

Yup, many various cluster variants out there. You still get brand new production 70 series Cruisers without a tach. On the 2.8 variants and aside from the digital cluster, Toyota has specced a slightly different analog cluster between single and double cabs. Then the V8 variants have another...

If you can get one fit Old Man Emu's FK58 kit to the brake proportioning valve mounting on the axle housing. It will raise the mounting by 80mm and get the braking substantially better on the disc/drum combination. Generally on a light vehicle like this the spec is the FK51 kit but we find that...

Saudi 75 Too - Tilda Bogue Service Station

Congratulations on clean earlier J7 examples! Seeing the Aisin locking hubs box in the background makes me think you are going to ditch the drive flanges for locking hubs? On the rear pack, aside from the overloads pulling the third blade from the top softens the pack considerably on EMU's. I...

    1974 FJ40 Horn Relay Replacement

This is how the OEM ones worked and yours seems to be a copy thereof - At least yours is an honest copy and not fake paint stamped with OEM markings on the front face like some unscrupulous vendors on here and elsewhere do.

Differences between '74-'80 4 speed and an '84 4 speed. Interchange?

Always a time to learn. Here are the OE numbers for the rear axle parking brake option - And no, this is not a Dana diff and Merc engine'd unit from South America but rather a Japan assembled setup available in the General Markets.

Differences between '74-'80 4 speed and an '84 4 speed. Interchange?

Later (83 and up) HJ47's usually had no parking brake drum behind the transfer since it moved to the rear axle. There are input shaft spline count variations too between the diesel and petrol transmission variants.

Good job. On all my 40's the hook goes on the other way, meaning, your hook is on upside down. The flat portion also provides a rest for the carrier arm. Hope this helps

I have a NOS one that I am now using and also a NOS later plastic one. I believe they were only steel on the first 2/3 years of production.

Great as always. Late 2F's indeed use a different upper radiator hose to the earlier ones. The 4 bolt hole updated thermostat housing and bottom sits higher than the valve cover compared to the earlier one where it sat lower.

Happy to help. Unless you are going to wheel it, just measure for bump stop length as I wrote above and your shocks and springs should be fine.
