What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Finally got around to fabricating my parking brake lever mount for my 81 rear axle. A couple of hours of playing around, if I did this for a living I would be in the poor house. It does work so I will be disconnecting the original dash mount parking brake eventually.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I made the jig out of 3' pieces of aluminum 2" angle iron. I notched the center and drilled two holes. Roughly a 30 min job.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Made an alignment jig, I was 1/16 toe’d out after the axle swap. Definitely explains why I had to hold the wheel on our fine NY roads. Turned the relay Rod about just past a quarter turn. Now I can hold the wheel with two fingers on most roads. There are still a few roads that require two hands...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Decided to redo my exhaust, had a leaking muffler and really didn’t like how the old set up was. Broke out the flux core welder and got to town. A muffler shop could’ve done much better but at least it’s done and it’s not like I wanted it sitting outside up here in the north east. I did find a...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Took advantage of the Cruiser Brothers spring sale and ordered a transfer case. Nothing planned at the moment but was hard to pass up on the deal. The savings offset the machining costs for a 3 to 1 planned re-gearing (way down the road) so it was a no brainer. I decided to pass on everything...

    73 FJ40 Refresh

great, thanks for the info. I plan on adding the 3FE exhaust headers to my F.5 and I am following your thread earnestly. I also like the muffler you picked as it appeared stockish. I have a spare 2F engine I will use to mockup my manifolds to create a 2 to 1 pipe. I think I am going slightly...

    1973 FJ40 Gear Change

I did something similar, started with a stock 74 3spd and 235/85r16 tires (32in I believe). I swapped in a H42 from a FJ60 (34mm Split case) and ran the 4.11's for a while. While on the prowl for stuff I got real lucky and found the axles out of an 81 that had the 3.70's and rear axle parking...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Rex in Bama, can you upload some pics on how you routed your exhaust? It appears you went along the outer frame rail? Based on the axle Im guessing this was the stock routing but Im curious. Thanks

    FJ40/BJ42 LX sliding window installation

Reaching out for some assistance. I purchased OE sliding windows from FJ40GURU and seals from City Racer, I also read the 1980 chassis manual and I am stuck on how the outer weatherstrip is adhered and where. I believe the way it was written the outer weatherstrip remains in place. In my case I...
