I've got a good shop in Brooklyn that I have been going to for about 20 years. They know GX's, mine have been getting serviced there for many years. I can do undercoating there on demand if you'd like as well...
Literally looking for the same info as one of my OEM rear shocks finally started to show signs of leaking. OEM rear shocks from Lexus are $1k a piece which is basically the cost of an entry level suspension lift/shock set. Trick is, I want ro keep the rear air bags like the O.P.
I had this same issue on my 2004 GX. Ended up being a faulty amplifier. Repaired the unit by sending it to United Radio in NY and all has been fine since.
My 2 cents is, make sure the airbags/shocks/struts/springs are in good shape, and tires... tires are pretty big on the comfort level in my experience with these trucks. I am on stock suspensions(with fresh rear air bags) and LOVE my stock size Michelin Defenders, absolutely great ride. I am sure...
Yes I am. Have been running them for a bit now. You can find photos and a pseudo writeup a few posts up in this thread. No issues or regrets, the truck is a beast, no lights, just added power/mpg(mine increased about 2mpg so far) same as @Rednexus . As a matter of fact I followed his insight...
BTW @04UZJ100 if you do some creative googling you can still get the spacers from different places. Although they have gone up in price since they've been pulled from Amazon/eBay/etc.
At least I am assuming its a ground wire?
While I was installing my Doug Thorley headers last weekend I noticed a clearly crusty green wire hanging off my front left strut tower.
I've done some cursory reading about the "Big 3" upgrade on the 120 platform but can't make heads or tails of it or...
Thanks for the input. Its a nice SOTP improvement with the factory catback and Y pipe. I'm happy with the LT's.
Some photos of the install. I elected to do it myself because I had a friend who let me use his shop/lift/tools to do the job. Took about 17 hours taking my time to clean/soak the...
Threw on some Doug Thorley LT's this weekend onto my new to me 06. My good friend let me borrow his lift/tools for about 17 hours lol.
Lots more photos. Might post more in another thread.
Long job but happy with the results. Helped that the truck wasn't rusty and all the bolts/studs...
Same issue as my 2006 but oddly not on my old 2004 truck. Go figure.
No fix that I am aware of... I just set/reset the maintenance minders without a date now.
I've personally re-booted 3 OEM Axles using an Ebay Boot kit with soft rolled edge worm clamps. 2 on my old 2004 and one so far on my new 2006. Getting ready to do the passenger side. With stock ride height I don't see any issue with going this direction. Or like @Rednexus said, just go with...
Doing my DT LT's this weekend at a buddys shop. The LT's can be had pretty affordably through URD in my opinion when compared to OEM replacements. Even after adding the other necessary parts its still a great deal for more horsepower + a lasting design which won't crack. I'll be keeping my stock...
