    Replacement leather seat cover

Have you done upholstery before? I am a handy person, and I reupholstered my two front seats. I have only ever paid for someone else to work on my car when I am out of town or if insurance is covering it. I think my upholstery job came out really really good. I don’t know if I would do it...

2001 Lx470 Air conditioning Mode button

I took the face off and placed pieces of double sided foam tape between the button and the contact. Not only did it make the button work, but it made it feel solid, like how I imagine all buttons on a Rolls Royce would feel. I did this in 2019 and I would still recommend.

It sounded exactly how it looks.

First it sounded like someone put a piece of rebar in a wood chipper. I cut the engine and cranked it again, then it sounded like a garbage disposal being ran with nothing in it. After replacing theThe starter , there was no new crunching sound. I have no idea where the shield went on the...

The cost benefit logic on tires is different?

TLDR: it’s actually a hair under 8 cents in tire damage per mile. Replacing 4.3 sets in the time it takes to replace one set is worth 1 mpg if your starting economy is less 10mpg or less. Kind of. If you are paying $0.0185 per mile, then that is the cost of admission and shouldn’t really be...

The cost benefit logic on tires is different?

Hello, I paid $6.75/gallon at Costco today. I couldn't help but think about the difference between 10 and 11 mpg. My entire life the primary reasons to not inflate beyond the door sticker is due to inconsistent mpg improvements to justify the known expense, excessive tire wear, ride quality...

No mechanic will touch my AHC. DIY repair advice?

You may be asking the wrong question? Offer to pay a mechanic to do a particular task. Maybe the talk is spending 2 hours reading and an hour working. Do not ask him if you can pay him to make an 18 year old part work. Get creative. You may need to talk to a mechanic at a local trucking...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Super glue and a plastic thumb tack push pin was the perfect shape for fixing the rear upper hatch handle latch mechanism.

99 Land Cruiser 15amp gauge fuse blows when put in reverse

LED lamp can be one small LED attached to the camera, or a light bar that can be observed from space. You can always diagnose the problem by putting it back to stock and seeing if it works. You can then add one item at a time and see if it works when just one aftermarket part is supplied. The...

Why shouldn’t I: remove 2nd row keep 3rd for camping?

I don’t know, there are some perks. The Smokey Season is a dry Smoke. The Fed’s did shut down the National Forest though. Gas was shockingly cheap in Hawaii. Central Shaft Florida was super clean feeling. Dallas/FTW was amazing to visit. If I left California, I am scared I would expect society...

Why shouldn’t I: remove 2nd row keep 3rd for camping?

I honestly don’t get RTT. I think they’re cool. I would totally keep one for a summer if I won it. But it doesn’t solve any of the problems I choose to encounter in Northern California. Most of my camping is in mountainous places with uneven ground. There are trees with low branches. I am...

Why shouldn’t I: remove 2nd row keep 3rd for camping?

    Hello, Pre.S.: I tried searching but I couldn’t find anything on this idea. My issues: 1) I am 6’2” 250(pre 2020) 2) wife is 5’ and convinced lions and bears eat everyone. 3) 2 kids under 5 y.o. What I am working with: 1) 01 LX 470 2) still have 3rd row seats 3) a hitch basket/no roof...

99 Land Cruiser 15amp gauge fuse blows when put in reverse

I just remembered that this is a safety feature that keeps you from driving without tail lights in the dark, but still lets you limp home. You may just have a blown bulb and the circuit is designed to blow to alert you to a problem. You have my thoughts and prayers that it’s that simple.

99 Land Cruiser 15amp gauge fuse blows when put in reverse

Ground fault issue. When grounds are weak you end up with a weak circuit not an excessively strong circuit. When people mention ground/grounding in relation to blown fuses, they typically mean that there is a current carrying wire that has lost all of its insulation and has contacted a large...

99 Land Cruiser 15amp gauge fuse blows when put in reverse

The reason I asked about the camera is because you may have increased the current draw on the circuit. So you may be able to justifiably put a larger fuse in, and not feel like you’re a bad person. The fact you defended the quality of the install on the camera makes me think that the camera has...

99 Land Cruiser 15amp gauge fuse blows when put in reverse

Does it pop the fuse immediately once it is in reverse? Does it pop when other dash lights(center diff/od off) are activated or is it only reverse? Do you have a camera or sensors when in reverse? Is that circuit pulling more amperage than a factory xxxxxxxx ccxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx don’t do...

New to me 1998 100......the list goes on and on

I am happy for you and your excitement. In California fuel costs $100 to drive a 100-series for 6 hours at 65mph. So at least you don’t have that; I just checked EU prices and it could cost $168, at least I don’t have that.
