My 1970 had been converted to amby doors. It was done really poorly, rattled like hell, didn't seal at all, and was missing doors when I took the top off. I prefer the way amby doors look but gladly I'm back to lift gate now. The tub for amby door models has a recessed lip that the earlier...
I moved my FJ40 from Pennsylvania to California. I had originally bought it in New Jersey. Pennsylvania doesn't examine the vehicle, you just get the paperwork notorized send it in and receive a title. California does an examination, if it can't be easily determined by matching the VIN plates...
I used the clip on bulb seal. Thought it worked great with a little trimming. I did get the flat rubber pieces from Cruisercorp. They weren't expensive.
I bought one of these:
TOYOTA LAND CRUISER--Landcruiser FJ40 FRAME MEMBER EARLY - 9/73
Biggest problem was getting the old piece out. Lots of rivets to drill/press out and I was working with the body still on. Perfect replacement piece.
I put a Pertronix via Mark in my dizzy. Works great. The later Toyota dizzies seem to be great too, but easier to just drop the Pertronix into the one you have than try to track down a motor side cover and the newer dizzy.
I had to shorten the 41-03 arm so much I had to remove the swivel piece, so there's no option to rotate the blade on that one. With an 11" wiper and the swivel it may work. Both arms came with adapters that bolt on, then the arm presses on and has a small tab that will catch under the adaptor...
In the name of science I figured I try the 41-02. Here's a comparison shot
41-02 is on the left, 41-03 on the right (modified). 41-02 is probably a better replacement. It's about the size of the stock arm and you can use the swivel to adjust the angle of the blade. It ends in a 5mm bayonet...
The correct thing to use is body seam sealer, but if you don't want to repaint some clear latex might work for a while. Tape off either side of the seam before applying. I had water on the firewall and heater until I recently resealed mine along that seam.
Reviving an oldie but I just put 41-03 on my truck. Top mount wipers. These have a 7mm arm that can be extended to different lengths. At the end of the main arm there's a swivel and another short piece of arm that ends in 7mm bayonet style. I didn't have good original wipers to use so I...
