I used a Nexus 7 w/gps and Gaia for a few years. I was recently gifted a Garmin "Overlander" and it is really nice, pairs up with my InReach. Easy to use.
I watched my local Craigs List and I found a 12-s that a guy mounted on a 1 tn Ford. Removed it when he sold truck planning on reusing but ended up with a SUV. I got it for $800 cash, it looked like it just came out of the box after I cleaned it up. I cleaned and re-greased the gear box...
They rate at fail point, the WLL is half or less. I have the 25K blocks and feel safe to 12K. These recovery gear sellers do not have a standard they all adhere to.
The BD pods are a good light, I have them for ditch lights. I have a 40" LED bar on my Roof rack, it's a good 4" back from the windshield, still have some glare and it lights up all the dust and/or rain/snow. Most of the time it's worthless. Driving and fogs on the front are the most useful.
