NIce, glad you are working on a plan for this beautiful truck. Just a few thoughts I have and have dealt with regarding my 1980. I had the stock carb rebuilt and it runs great. I messed with it for a a month or so then gave up and took it to a guy in town who was familiar with the Aisan carbs. I...
I do not think the hard lines from the transmission are flared, the soft line is just held with a clamp. Then the soft lines go to the inlet & outlet on the bottom of the radiator using the screw on fittings. I had the stock, screw on fittings attached to the soft lines by a local shop years ago.
I have the 4l80E so not sure if the set up is exactly the same, but here is what I have. The hardline's run up from the passenger side of the trans to about 1.5'-2' of the bottom of the radiator. From there I just have soft lines with the fittings to hook up to the bottom of the radiator and...
Really just been an issue over the last year or so, but I had not really taken it on any long, Summer road trips for a few years before last Summer.
I will check the head gasket, good call. The oil and coolant look good and I am not losing any coolant, but will look into that.
I am going to go...
I have read a lot of the other posts about over heating and most seem to apply to getting hot at idle or low speeds. My 1989 FJ62 starts getting hot at highway speeds. It has a 6.0 LS in it for reference and I have run this set up for 12 years now. Here is what I have done so far to try and fix...

I took my FJ62 radiator to these guys about a year ago. It had a few small leaks and they repaired it and checked over the whole radiator. I have not put it back in the truck as it is now a spare, but they were very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Maybe...
Added the extra leaf to my OME medium kit for the rear to make it a heavy kit. Pretty straight forward, but I realized 2 things.
1. I am not as young as I once was so rolling around on the concrete floor sucks.
2. The install would have gone faster had my dog not secretly picked up and walked...
Great work, that is a beautiful truck! I am also running the FJ40 wheels with caps and I get a lot of compliments on the look.
Which Holley kit did you go with? Do you have it installed and running yet? I am looking to go EFI on my 20r as well.
Got very lucky and after a long search, I got this off Facebook marketplace for $225. Needed a cable, I put a synthetic line on it, and a remote.
I opened it up and everything was in great shape so I sealed it back up and it works fine. Tight fit, but better than the old Mile Marker I had on there.
