I'd reach out to Dark Illusions for some support and to make sure the harness they sent is compatible with the year locker you have. I went with the low range offroad harness and have had no issues with it paired to a 2014 4runner locker.
The originals lasted about 50k miles of pretty hard use, so I can't be too mad at that. Shocks themselves are still in good shape, so we'll see how long the OE bushings last.
In case anyone else has Bilstein 6112s and your lower bushings get blown out, OE Toyota/Lexus part number 90903-89012 is a direct replacement since Bilstein won't sell a replacement.
I used a ball joint press and 30mm socket to push the old bushing out and press the new one in. No heat or...
Proforged or something like that if I remember correctly; nothing fancy or expensive. It was off Amazon a few years ago, so I don't remeber the details.
I have ~3" Dobinsons LT and the sway bar was not a limitation in travel. The lower control arm contacted the axle tube before the end link and sway bar maxed out. The 2nd gen links get the sway bar pretty close to parallel vs the lower arms. Heres how they looked with my old 5160 setup.
I have been eyeing these in the 35x10.5 variety. I'm finally replacing my old 1998 Explorer, so that means the GX can be relieved of daily duty lol. Glad to hear you're liking them so far. The Toyos I have now are a terrific all-terrains, but I'm leaning towards max offroad performance now.
Used the empty space next to the air box and ps reservoir. The Badlands Apex control box is huge, so I had to trim the excess off the sides. Secured with 2 bolts going through the fender sheet metal and the supplied relocation bracket. Easily accessible should the remote batteries die, and it's...
Yeah, at least for the mechanical info since 2005+ is pretty much all the same. Wiring diagrams will likely vary from year to year though. I use this for my 2008 frequently for any work I have to do.
So far so good for mine. It arrived after a few weeks, fit the body lines, template was accurate, and it does the job. I wouldn't say my experience is typical though with all of the other overwhelming negative feedback recently. Buy at your own risk. I wish the TJM low profile Airtec snorkel (or...

The tech info pdf is pretty comprehensive with wiring diagrams, breakdowns of all of the systems, repair steps, torque specs, etc.
If you are wanting a true mud tire thats a good value, check out the Kenda Klever MT2. It's relatively new, and totally redesigned from the original version. Lots of people have had positive experiences with their R/T tires. They are probably somewhere between the no-name Chinese brands and...
A carefully aimed MAPP gas torch got it free after what seemed like 1hr+ of manual hammering.
I got the 2 12mm retaining bolts free with the steering wheel straight, then turned it to the driver's side about 1/4 turn until it locked itself. This aimed the seams in the collar right at me...
I've been fighting the steering recently and thought the ps pump finally went out. After I replaced the pump, I noticed a small improvement, but it was still pretty tough to turn. The culprit ended up being the intermediate steering shaft. One of the axis on the shafts u-joint was totally seized...
Finally got around to cleaning it up. Been busy with other projects, repairs, and trips lately. Just need to get it aligned again and it'll be good as new.
I put this little pocket in the adjustable suspension spot:
TOYOTA 58839-60040 Console Box Hole Cover https://a.co/d/aU1nGmL
Good for holding smaller items like chapstick or whatever else fits. Blue Dog Design also has some 3d printed parts that replace the entire wood trim piece around the...
