Changed mine over today. 03 LX w/ 125,000 miles. Original T’s DISINTEGRATED coming out. Had no outward signs of impending failure but were one good jarring away from disaster. Switched to metal T’s and worm gear clamps. Thank you Mud members for all of the insight, in this issue and every...
Also an 03 (LX), and mine does it at least once a week. Always thought it was weird and worried I had some sort of water intrusion/computer issue that the previous owner neglected to inform me of. My rig has 125k miles.
Glad you got it sorted out and it wasn’t a bigger issue! If there is anything with these trucks that “scares” me it’s AHC issues. I’m just glad that this site has such a wealth of knowledge and experience so that if something ever comes up I won’t be lost in the sauce.
I’m with these guys, looks like a great excuse to get that *insert coveted brand name here* rear bumper and start the buildup.
Salvage title on a built up rig you’ll drive forever or eventually sell to a fellow enthusiast won’t hurt a thing.
Did a “PADDO system” AHC bleed and fluid change on my new-to-me 03 LX470. Also pulled off the rusted to pieces splash guard and was pleasantly suprised to find that it had apparently bore the brunt of the damage from the Chicago area road brine(If anybody has an OEM and wants to sell, I’m...
Another happy subscriber to the “PADDO method”. I’ve owned my 470 for around a month now and came in completely ignorant of AHC. Reading your info on this system has me at least somewhat understanding what is going on down there, although sometimes I have to read it a couple of times. You speak...
I would use it as a bargaining chip In negotiating the value of the truck, but a 15 year old LX with that mileage is sure hard to find. I purchased my 03 from the Chicago area with 118,000 on it around a month ago and it’s undercarriage looks similar. I would ask for pics around the rear fender...
I haven’t installed them yet, so I’m in the same boat as you now wanting to go back and make sure I have the proper parts, but the ones I bought are 10mm. They matched the part reference number I found on MUD though.
“Welcome” seems like the wrong response coming from me, since this is my introductory post also, but.....welcome! I too am the proud new owner of an LX470 (mine is an 03), and I too fell prey to the shady used car salesman (although not as gut-wrenching as your ordeal Scoob...I hope) In my case...
