Built '96 for sale...PRICE REDUCED
Please see my post in the OTHER "for Sale" section...meant to post it here, now can't figure how to transfer over.
Thanks,
John
New price $19,500. You can buy cheaper, but not better. This is a great deal IF you want a pre-built rig, done right, that's...
305 is basically a wide 33" tire, whereas the 315 is a more narrow 35" (almost) tire.
If your lift and gearing is appropriate, go with the 315. It does make a difference on the trail.
My turn to make a WAG...you don't mention if you have a lift installed, but if so, perhaps by removing your "heavy a$$" roof rack you have introduced too much angle into your driveline. Does the noise happen when you lift the throttle at speed?
Good luck.
John
Just a thought, but is your "power" switch on? On my '96, with the power switch on (located at the base of the t-case shifter), my tranny will kick down earlier to keep the engine in the power zone.
The e-mail address for the mag is www.fourwheeler.com
They don't list addresses for individual contributors, but might provide it if you ask.
HIH,
John
Newps...You're talking about a different rig. This thread is about a Lexus GX-470 that an off-road mag is building into a wheeler. You're talikg about Alan Podvin's TLC 100 that he built, and is selling now.
Shed-guy...I don't have the ability to scan, but I will send you the actual mag if you...
4 of us (3 80's and a 40) did a small portion of the Rubicon today. You will have ample opportunity to rip anything and everything off your truck, whether you want to or not. Might as well send Christo the check now.

That's a good question. Maybe the ECU holds the rpms a little higher in low before shifting, or maybe it allows the tranny to shift at a lower rpm. I guess I'd vote for the latter, to better utilize torque vs horsepower, but its just a guess. I'm outta my league now...
DRTduck...Are you talking about putting the tranny in 1st or 2nd in HIGH or in LOW?
When I mention low-range shift points, I'm referring to the shift-points that are programmed into the ECU when in low range. The pin-7 mod allows you to access those shift points. The CDL, by itself, does not...
But wait, there's more.
As others said, the CDL allows you to run in low range without the ECU automatically locking the center diff. Helpful for high-traction surfaces to avoid wind-up.
The pin-7 mod allows the ECU to use pre-programmed shift-points while in low range. In other words, the CDL...
As Andy said, a group of 10 or so 80's did the Rubicon last summer, and aim to repeat this August. I was not with them on version 1, but will definitely make round 2. I have done Cadillac Hill, and Wentworth up to Walker Hill, plus Fordyce to the FIRST stream crossing (AKA the "easy"...
I had this same "thud" coming to, and starting from, a dead stop. Turns out I had loosened one of my rear lower control arms (where it attaches at the frame) while in Moab. Tightened it up with a 24mm socket, good to go. No more thud. Check yours out...it could be this simple.
John
I believe it IS for sale. He quoted a price to one of our club's members at Moab.
BTW, the truck is unbelievable! Alot of custom fabbing, and great attention to detail. Plus, it just looks like a mean mofo.

No you don't need a fancy, overpriced, marketing-hyped filter. An OEM Toyota filter is more than adequate, and some would say the best. I run their small filter (910004?) which is very well-made. However, rumor has it that it is being discontinued. Maybe Cdan can shed a little light on that ;)
