Ok thank you all !
Sounds like since the forward section of the frame is the same if I get my hands on an inexpensive FJ40 frame I will be off to a good start to recreating the section from the transmission back.
I am putting together an FJ45 and i will need to fabricate or purchase a frame.
Are the fj40 and fj45 frames similar aside from any differences in length ?
Thanks !
Good News !! Finally Swapped my fuel feed line and return line this past weekend. reset the carb float height as per the service manual and it is running like a well tuned Toyota tractor again !!
Check out this fitting I have found it may help others in the future save some money when plumbing in a carburetor that uses a male M12x1.25 to 8mm compression fitting !
Thanks everybody for the input !
My power train/drive line is also a 1978 year range.
Hopefully when I get back to the Toy here in a couple weeks I can report back with a follow up on whether or not I have solved the issue with all of this new information I have to use !
I had posted a new thread asking what the plug diameter and pitch would be.
Discovered that my fuel feed is connected to the banjo style fitting and this is what people are referring to as the return fitting.
My return hose has been connected to the other union style fitting which is facing...

I always figured there should be a restriction in the return line fitting. (that would be...
Again thank you for the help but that is not accurate.
Older model years did not use a pump with a return.
They had a carb with a return.
I have created this thread to find the diameter and thread pitch of the fuel return line fitting on the carburetor so that I can plug it. If anyone...
Thank you for the help !
It's a thing.. trust me
Not my carb. Just an online pic..
Still need to determine the diameter and thread to be able to plug the return line.
Anyone happen to know what the return line fitting thread and pitch is ?
I would like to find a suitable plug and don't have access to my carburetor for the next couple weeks.
Thanks !
I will cap the return line until I can install a mid tank with a proper return fitting.
I have successfully pinched off return fuel flow to maintain float bowl level so I am fairly certain that it is a return flow issue now as well.
With regards to the fuel feed. I have also installed a...
