1991 Heater Hose Part ID Help

Thanks to the help from @jdayment I was able to get the tube ordered. This goes from the oil cooler on the passenger side of the block across the front of the oil pan below the crankshaft and up to the water pump on the driver side. Part number 15770-61030 Hope this helps if anyone else runs...

    craigslist 96/Louisiana/Needs engine

I'm actually debating on picking it up this week... seller is very hit or miss with responding, though. It's four hours away, but I'm not afraid of a motor swap if it's not actually as rotted out as the first pic looked.

1991 Heater Hose Part ID Help

Yes, that's it. Thanks for the diagram- I wasn't seeing it with the part numbers listed next to it! I think I may be able to get a new one ordered, now!

1991 Heater Hose Part ID Help

Thanks, but no. It looks like it’s part of the oil cooler assembly. Haven’t found a part number yet.

1991 Heater Hose Part ID Help

Anyone know where I can get a new one of these? Mine ruptured and is pretty well rotted out. It’s nearly 30 years old so my first thought was to run a Gates green stripe and nix the hard line, but my concern is whether it’s a suction hose. I don’t want it to collapse and destroy something...

    3F-E Radiator Hoses... Three??

I wasn’t sure these had a weephole, so that info definitely helps! The block looks completely dry below the pump, but I’m not ruling it out as the source.

    3F-E Radiator Hoses... Three??

No, but knowing there’s a leak and how hard the hoses are, I’m betting it’s related. Either way, it’ll need new hoses. I can’t see much of anything in there, but plan to have my son pour water into the radiator while I feel around now that it’s warm enough to not freeze my hand to the crossmember.

    3F-E Radiator Hoses... Three??

To be clear, I sincerely appreciate the replies and clarifications. $30 and a few hours' work now before I dump a bunch of money into this thing are worth it to know I have a solid framework for this build. The plan will be to find #14 and replace it all at the same time, even at the risk of...

    3F-E Radiator Hoses... Three??

Thanks. I think. I'm not excited about this, as it'll bug the s*** out of me if I replace 12 and 13 but not 14. @malteserunner Do I need to pull the A/C compressor and alternator to access that damn upper lower radiator hose? See? That sounds so stupid even typing it... sigh. Going Sunday to...

    3F-E Radiator Hoses... Three??

This new rig I picked up (1991 FJ80, bone stock) has a massive coolant leak near the front of the motor. It doesn't appear to be coming down the block or timing cover or even touching the oil pan. I followed the lower radiator hose along the passenger side and it disappears between the A/C...

    Center diff switch question

I started off there and it went downhill FAST in terms of finding more questions. I’ve already caught on that 91/92 are going to be different from later years and I’m gradually getting a grasp on all of it. The crew here has helped me get up to speed very quickly on several things. I’m working...

    Center diff switch question

Thanks for the clarification! So much more complicated than my YJ, which is a simple pull of a lever and I'm in 4-LOW! Doing the trans filter and topping off all the fluids today. If that goes well, I'll drive it around the block a few times and see how things go from there. I haven't been able...

    Center diff switch question

Thanks for the tip. Other than Subarus, this is my first AWD vehicle and definitely the first with this diff lock mechanism. So, to be clear, the light will be off when I hit the button, but will come on once it engages? Does it automatically engage when in low range? Should the light be on in...

    Center diff switch question

That’d be awesome, thanks! This is my first FJ build so I’m learning as I go. Bought a major fixer-upper, just going to be working my way through it over the next few months. Never thought I’d say this down here, but once all the ice melts in a few days I’d love to take some time to check out...

any new options for tall and skinny tires on an 80?

The 16 is what's killing you on options. Several companies have 285/75R17s, which comes out to 34x10.50... but they're not going to be on the cheaper end of the spectrum. There are always options- it just comes down to your wallet. I'm with you- I'd go with the 285/75 because of the price variance.
