I'm toying with the idea of trading my early rust-free, dent-free '70s FJ40 hood for one that would be period-correct for my '78. Does anyone have a nice '78-ish hood? (I have included pictures of my current hood.)
Hi.
Recently the driver's door on my Tacoma was stuck shut, so after an online search, I determined that a broken spring in the lock mechanism was causing the problem. The good news is that I managed to open the door. The bad news is that I cannot figure out where the replacement spring fits...
I couldn't find any obvious obstructions, so I removed the two lower screws, took the box completely out, and then reset everything. So far, so good . . .
Hi.
The blower motor in my Tacoma started making noise, so I took it out and discovered a mouse nest.
In order to better access the motor while removing it, I "dropped" the front of the glove box down so that it was hanging, but I did not remove the box completely. After putting the motor back...
Hello.
I just tried to replace the air/fuel sensor on my '04 Tacoma, but I could not remove the nuts that hold the sensor on to the manifold pipe. My theory is that twelve years of extreme heat have "welded" the nuts to the studs. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to loosen the nuts...
One of the vacuum hoses on my '78 came undone a few years ago. As a result, my mileage dropped dramatically. One thing worth noting, however, is that with the unplugged line, my 40 would not run without the choke on.
I saw two FJ40s in Freeport, Maine, last Friday. One appeared to be a late-'70s model with new-style jump seats, camo paint, and no top. Not long after that, I saw a red 40 while I was getting on the highway. This one looked like an early -'70s model with full hardtop. Somebody was hauling it...
As promised, here I am to update you on the issue I was having with my 40.
First things first: Those mysterious red wires were originally hooked up to some fog lights that the PO mounted on a custom bumper. I changed the bumper back to stock and removed the lights many years ago, but I'd...
I'll try all the suggestions you guys have provided. When I figure out the problem, I'll make sure I come back to this thread and post what I find.
Thanks again. Stay tuned.
Some more back story: I had the previous battery for five or six years. My 40 stays garaged during the winter, and the...
My '78 will not start. The battery is new, but I don't even get a "click" when I turn the ignition key. While trying to diagnose the problem, I found some wires that might have been connected at some point.
Please look a the photo below.
1.Should the two red wires be connected?
2. Where does...
Sorry about what happened . . .
It's too bad you hadn't searched this site before you agree to do business with slick Tedd. Lots of us have had similar experiences, but fortunately for us, they were on a MUCH smaller scale.
If you did not authorize him to charge you an extra $30,000 beyond what...
