Around $80 or $90 is right. When you loosen the tensioners and alt you need to fully loosen them or you'll be frustrated. The AC belt especially. Easiest access to the bolt is over the fame through the wheel well, and don't forget to loosen the bolt on the front of the tensioner as well.
Double check that there is no air in the system and the belt is tight. Speaking of belts only use OEM or supposedly Napa (same supplier) as the others do not have the correct "V" angle. I doubt you damaged the steering box. Mine has leaked for a while now and steering box is fine.
It looks like its coming from around the rear air injector under the manifold. But it could be from the valve cover. I will do the oil cap test this morning. Is smells more exhaust than anything else.
92 3FE, engine starts up and runs smooth. As it warms up it develops a white smoke from what seems the side of the valve cover. Can't tell exactly. Is there something else under the intake that can cause the same type of smoke?
After shutting it off it is difficult or won't restart. Let it...
Yes, cutting fairly new belt was painful to say the least. Tried to start and turned over, slowly like a weak battery. No knock, no clunk. Finally started up, limped back home. Started to knock after about 1/4 mile and progressively got worse for the next 1/2 or so to the house. I do think...
Been thinking, I had recently pressure cleaned the engine. Let's say I trashed the distributor, could it cause the engine to spund like something broke on the bottom end? Could it throw it out of time that bad?
Went back, cut the belts. Got it started. Big time knock and noise. Did get it back to the house now to decide what to do with it as it sounds lower end all the way. Will pull the pan and see. Of course this will lead to the replace or repair vs Chevy 350 questions.
Driving the truck up the highway and started to smell burning rubber. Pulled off highway, no broken belts no leak. I think engine has major issue. Oil is fine and no leaks. Any way a seized AC compressor stall the engine? When I hit the starter it seems everything is slowly turning.
I assume...
Been struggling with my brakes for a while. Replaced rotors with larger 97's, new calipers, and series 100 pads. Still getting pulling to one side or the other when braking. Plus when I get on them hard the front left locks up.
I assume the lspv might be the cause of the lock up but not the...
On my 92 I discovered an annoying rattle / squeak at the fuel tank. seems to be the front edge of the skid plate but there's no play at the actual straps. Are there bushings / pads between the plate and the tank that wear out or ones above the tank? I rather not have to mess with rusted 20 year...
When it acted up was it level or on a severe incline? Are you getting spark? It sounds electrical too me as well. Check wires from battery to plugs. Especially your fusible links and grounds. Keep moving the links around as someone tries to start.
Really, 10 hours of labor for replacing the side push rod cover on a 3-fe!?! I tried not to laugh too hard, dealer also wanted $450 to change the oil pan gasket. Now I know why I get greasy on weekends.
