After owning multiple BMWs (still have one, just sold another) and driving a 2001 BMW 740iL as my daily for 8+ years and just shy of 250k miles - I simply just wanted something dependable and comfortable that I could rack miles out without issue. I also started camping a lot more, and inevitably...
Just get whatever the cleanest truck you can afford is. Bonus for Lexus (and if you can do this with Toyota someone chime in), is that you can put the VIN into Lexus' service website and pull the dealer records. I ended up getting a 100% dealer maintained truck up to 3k miles before I bought it...
You'll be totally fine. It will float and lean a bit more on turns, but just be cognizant and don't cook into something too fast - not like these are nimble trucks anyway. I did 2.5 years or so sans front sway-bar, no issue.
Wanted to add to this thread for the record, I ordered a CV clamp kit and have heard nothing over 3 weeks. Tried to contact 3 times to no avail. I ended up doing a chargeback via capital one and they were very understanding with no issue.
McMaster-Carr however was fantastic.
Yep looks like I too got screwed. Ordered the CV kit, ended up just getting it from McMaster-Carr myself. Zero communication after a few weeks and me trying to get in touch. Contacting the credit company for a chargeback today.
I mean you're asking a biased crowd so you're going to get biased answers, but I wouldn't even think twice about making this switch. I wouldn't even worry too much about the AHC on the LX's, its a pretty stout system with some maintenance. 4Runner + Tacoma suggestion is solid too.
Mediocre picture, but drilled into the dust cap. I wanted to maintain the OEM wiring since I figured the dust cap was the easiest thing to replace if I wanted to revert this a bit. The ballast is mounted in the bumper above the fog light (you can barely see it here), used silicone glue to hold...
As in the corner lights next to the headlights? I believe you have to take them out entirely IIRC, there's a screw at the top of them you need to undo, then a clip on the headlight side of them towards the bottom that clips into the headlight housing - then they should pull out. Easier said than...
Over the last 2 years I've been experimenting with yellow/3k bulbs. Started with Nokya + Hella H3's, both sets "bubbled" and failed. Ended up going to set 1 of LED Amazon yellow h3's - solid performance, but they ultimately failed and seemed to run very hot. I finally swapped to an H3 35w 3K HID...
Yep, this has been covered a couple times, good thread here: Fog lights on without low beam ?
The relay is difficult to get to, but if you're willing to dive in it otherwise isn't too difficult.
From what I understand, most people (including myself this weekend) go the route of 2x2 or 3x3 angle iron and just fab a new bracket using that and weld it on. Any decent welding/frame type shop should be able to take care of this also.
This is one of those "they all do that" things. The front AC drain is located directly above this bracket, it drips down on to the bracket, and water pools up and rusts these out. Here's a decent thread talking about this: Front sway bar bracket
Swaybar is probably fine to paint, so long as...
For future reference - I just looped the two connectors to the Lexus Link that are under the cupholders, reinstalled the 7.5 amp fuse 19, and have no errors with a working night vision system again. Nav is a-ok. If looking at the cup holders top down sitting in the drivers seat, the right most...
I used this, 5/16 on my '03 LX for the rear line. It's been installed a little over a year now with no issue - well worth the $19 attempt, glad I didn't cap like I was planning.
I unfortunately don't know the answer to the first question - hopefully someone else can chime in, but I do know the second.
Your bumper pull hitch is rated for 5000lbs, and its not recommended to use a weight distribution hitch with them. If you can get your hands on an OEM hitch (98-02...
If you haven't already, you can plug in the VIN on Lexus' service website and pull the dealer records there: Lexus Service History | Lexus Drivers . Otherwise its possible to take off the timing cover to peek in to the belt somewhat easily, but out of personal experience I've found its hard to...
FWIW, I've ordered two Denso's from RockAuto over the last 2 years, and the most recent one I got was packaged significantly better than the first. Maybe they're changing their ways?
