I had a cracked manifold when I bought my rig. I also had headers and a heat riser block off plate.
When I pulled it apart, gas had collected between the block off plate and the manifold. I don't know how much it affected the engine, but it was some nasty old stinking gas in there. I think it...
A quick note on the sender - don't use Teflon tape. The gauge relies on good ground from the sender housing to the block, which you don't want to disrupt. I didn't use anything and it sealed up perfectly.
If you are running a bit cool, be sure you have a good rubber gasket on top of the...
I am selling the taillight assemblies that came with my '76 40 before restoration.
They are a bit crusty and the wires have some janky trailer connections, but I do believe they are OEM lights made by Koito, and they do work.
Maybe somebody needs an extra set for a trail rig?
$20 plus shipping.
I am selling a set of aftermarket tail light assemblies that I had installed on my '76 FJ40 for a short time.
I since purchased OEM tail lights for my restoration.
These are stamped Toyota on the lenses and metal housings, but I don't believe they are OEM.
I am also including waterproof...
I have a set of new front FJ40 turn signals for sale.
I bought them, but I don't consider them restoration quality, so I got OEM for my restoration.
If you need a low cost set, these may be for you, but don't expect OEM fit and finish.
$40 plus shipping for the pair. I paid more, but happy to...
If you can find a replacement separator, you can probably use some JB weld around the metal tube. It's not the first choice, but when one of my nipples broke off, I superglued it just to hold it in place and then built up JB Weld around it with several layers. It's working fine so far. If you...
If you replace the fuel or vapor hoses, be sure to use materials rated for gasoline. Even brand new lines not rated for fuel can pass vapors through the rubber. I know first hand !
I don’t recall exactly what the green wires go to, but I know whatever it is, my truck doesn’t have it any longer. Thinking it was emissions equipment, but could have been a carb fan given its location.
Nice truck! I don't see any red flags from those pics. Surely you'll be painting everything to match your truck, so you can clean up any minor surface rust during that process. I see generic weatherstripping on the doors, which you'll need to replace with high quality seals made for the doors...
From the 2 pics you posted, that looks like a gem of a top and excellent doors! I would want to see pics of the underside of each door, and the sill under the hardtop to check the integrity. Those are the first rust problem areas.
When you consider that the fiberglass top and rain gutters look...
I have a couple tips on the thermostat housing bolts.
First: The bolts can get really nasty over time and using anti-seize will help, but someone on MUD recommended using carb studs instead of bolts, which I did. They are the right threads and length. Now I just have 2 nuts and washers on top...
I have my advance set at 20 degrees and it runs really well. When it's too low, it doesn't run rough, but I get some hiccups while driving.
I bought a digital timing gun from Harbor Freight that allows me to enter my desired target advance number, and then I line up the flywheel mark to TDC...
I had my '76 wiring harness professionally rebuilt by a Mud member. As part of the process, he wired up my taillight assemblies with a 5th wire mod that takes the ground all the way back to the front of the truck. Standard was 4 wires. I have no idea what I would to do with a 6th wire...

Air horn is sold.
Really? What identifies it as being from an FJ60? I only know it came installed on my FJ40 2F engine when I bought it, but who knows what the PO did.
I want to identify it properly for the sale!
Thanks.
I have a complete air cleaner assembly that I removed from my '76 FJ40 when switching to EFI.
I understand it's an FJ60 assembly even though the PO installed it on my FJ40 with 2F engine.
It's not rusty and the carb gasket also seems to be in soft pliable condition.
