Sounds good - unfortunately gmail put the notification of your update into my spam folder so I missed it until now. I'll take pics and maybe some video tonight.
Definitely not a SoCal issue and there isn't any, however, if anyone needs them I can crawl under there and snap a few. I also could have snapped a pic of the engine bay but it's bone stock so it's no different than any others you'll see.
When you have an older vehicle you gotta embrace the quirks. You can't fight all the demons, some you just need to learn to love, that's why old vehicles are so cool, it's almost like they have a personality.
And it was for a couple of years. I'll have to go back to see how many miles I put on it since I got it but I'd venture I've put in less that 500 in 2-3 years. It's always ran I just didn't have the time to drive it. :(
I'm selling my FJ80 poverty pack. I bought it about two years ago and spent quite a bit of money getting it safe and legal but priorities have changed and I don't have time to go out and explore like I used to. It's a solid runner and ready for use, passed smog yesterday without issue. Needs...
I used magnaflow. No issues except that the inspector took a long long time to inspect them and make sure they were appropriate for my make/model/year. Said that it's common for shops to charge one price and sell a lesser cat that isn't a correct fit for the vehicle. I assured him min were...
Uncle is out in the desert and found he's losing transfer case fluid. Contacted me via text on sat phone - unable to speak w/him directly. He's asked, "Lost some trans case fluid - need capacity - fill point" I believe the model is approx 1989 HJ61 JDM RHD. TIA!
We saw that pic of the flywheel when we were looking at things, what's the difference between the double marks and the single? We were working off the large single one
We wanted to be able to sight over the top of the distrib but there's wiring that was very much in the way from whichever direction we were looking. The rubber cover was missing but I like the idea of the grease, hopefully it's timed right for now and we won't have to revisit this for a while...
My brother-in-law, previously a mechanic was helping me and we ultimately went and purchased a little mirror to get a better look in the access hole. Late on he felt he wasn't seeing the right thing which is why he thought timing was so far off. With mirror he felt he was getting a look at...
So here’s an update and I’m seeing some weird things. Confirmed with smog tech who said I was holding at 2-degrees BTDC. I was not able to see the timing mark any range from 0 to 14 While idle was at about 650. Decided to move through all timing numbers and finally got the mark at the...
Thanks @ppc - can you elaborate a little more re: timing marks. Not really noted well in the FSM. I think I remember something about the rear of the engine/firewall?
In my ongoing saga of trying to get my 3FE smogged I'm nearly about to pass, but my timing is off, literally. According to the smog tech I can be off by 3-degrees +/- from factory spec. As you likely know factory is 7-degree and the tech says I'm at 13 so I need to drop it down to no more than...
