Always wondered what exactly these are supposed to achieve? Purely sound suppression or keep some heat from the sun off the engine?
Could also imagine it would keep some heat trapped in the engine bay, also would get quite filthy over time.

I bought the same radiator aswell, required heavy modification to fit correctly. The radiator itself wasn't wide enough to fit the stock bracket so had to bolt some flat aluminium to the radiator then bolt it to the bracket. The bottom hose also didn't line up, but glad its all finally together...
Try white vinegar, won't eat any good metal. I soaked my air cleaner in it for about a week and scrubbed it lightly with a wire brush every few days. No rust left.
35 years in a shed and finally alive again. Still needs a tune but chugging along nicely. Unbelievable.

I used a felpro gasket, my first attempt at tightening i snug them all up but not too tight. Once I ran the motor I noticed a leak, turned the motor off clean the carbon and nip all the bolts up again. I did this twice and now have no leaks.
We had a 2f sitting in a shed for 35 years. The motor had only done about 30-50k kms. Fired it up after only lubricating the cylinders.
