    Acceleration vibration, CV? HELP!

If you have the old CV axle, swap it back in and see if the problem goes away. The symptom does sound like a bad CV axle, and if you are sure it wasn't there before the CV axle, then the old axle should help you confirm that it is, in fact, a defective aftermarket CV axle.

    1985 failed smog with results

Ok. High HC is unburned fuel. How is the health of the engine itself? Good compression, not burning oil?

    1985 failed smog with results

Increased RPM seems to have helped your high HC, which leads me to believe it is running too rich. ( I do not live in an area where we have to tune carbs to pass emissions, so this is kind of lost on me. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in. In the mean time, I will do some digging...

Looking to buy….what are your thoughts?

I like what I see. My first 80 was nasty like that, and it ended up being a great thing, because all that grime saved the frame and body from rust and corrosion! How is the top side?

Getting Our Kicks on Route 66 in a 1969 FJ40

I was just going to ask, before you mentioned the wiper failure, if taking the FJ40 was as fun as it looked. You had mentioned travel or road stress earlier in your posts, and was curious if the 40 had anything (or everything) to do with that. I plan taking an old yota down Route 66 this July...

Looking for reputable machine shop in east TN & surrounding areas.

In Cookeville, there is a machine shop here called Midstate Motorworks. They are who we use for our machine work here at the dealership, and I have personally used them before. They do excellent work. For a while they were just doing wholesale or commercial business, but I think recently they...

    thoughts 3fe cooling system

I agree that being in the red is not normal, and take no offense to what you said. Hopefully you'll get it sorted out. I'm a Toyota tech, and even having experience in this field can sometimes make you second guess your own diagnosis when it comes to your personal vehicle. You sound like...

    thoughts 3fe cooling system

FWIW, my "running fine" LX450 will get to 205* F on the OBD2 readout pretty quickly. From what I have searched (you can do some too, if you are so inclined!) around 200* operating temp is not uncommon running temp on these. I do have a 1FZ, just thought about that. I wouldn't think the 3FE...

For giggly-poo's, remove your thermostat, and re-assess. If it is not the thermostat, it should still overheat. If it is the thermostat, it will not. In theory.

TPMS: Is it Really All or Nothing? and Caster

Like someone said earlier, the main reason it is recommended to do all, if one fails, is that all your sensors are the same age. Kind of like replacing all your tires due to age, even if they have good tread. I will say that often replacing the failing sensor alone is all that is needed. But...

    2002 Corolla --very low oil

The 1ZZ-FE in it's early iterations were notorious for burning oil. Later ones seemed to be better about it. You never say how many miles are on the vehicle, but I would venture to guess that it has just burned the oil right along with the gasoline. The oil scraper ring on these and other...

    4lo flashing

Did you try to engage 4LO when this happened? Or were you just driving the vehicle, and this light came on? Are there any other lights on at the same time, flashing or otherwise? I have seen several occasions where people think it is a 4WD issue, and it ends up being an ABS issue.

    LS400 Steering wheel/LX450 airbag fitment

I am so glad I made the upgrade. It is a night and day difference, having a clean wheel to grab ahold of every time i drive. Good luck in your search!

    LS400 Steering wheel/LX450 airbag fitment

Yes. Horn works just like the old one, as does the airbag (i was able to reuse the LX450 airbag with the new LS400 wheel). Virtually plug and play.

    1994 4.7 Engine swap

Digging into the specifics of swapping my 96 to a 2uz. How do you address the Fuel Pump Control ECU that the 2UZ Land Cruisers use? And is the old Fuel Pump relay bypassed? I also assume that the wiring/ECU from Lexus v8 eliminated the immobilizer/ Transponder key requirement? I was looking at...
