Ok. A lot of info. thanks. I got the heater working nicely after proper hose routing. Intake manifold port to top of control valve, then output to fabricated fitting at lower radiator hose. Correct assessment on the serpentine belt with the reverse water pump. Thanks again!

After install let you know if that takes care of the problem.

Get what you are saying . I went to a welding shop and will add this mod in line with the lower hose.

I see what you are saying and I think I have it backwards with the output on the top of the control valve. It is a reverse water pump with no points of attachment. The intake is a plug on top of the intake manifold.

The heater never worked because the previous owner had the return hooked into the block where the sending unit is supposed to be. One thing for certain; should have taken auto shop in high school.

How it is hooked up now; the hose from the top of the intake manifold gets pumped thru the firewall by the water pump, thru the heater core and back to the radiator. On a normal SB Chevy the radiator has an input for that return. Not so on the 60 radiators that were not setup that way. So I am...

    Brake hose?

I just went to my local Toyota dealer for some of the hoses above. No longer in stock. I found a site Lakeland Toyota Overstock and they had everything I needed at a great price with reasonable shipping.

Wanted (Mn) FJ60 headliner, carpet, dash pad, headlight switch, dash gauge surround

I received a quote from the local upholstery shop- $900. I have yet to repair mine. I have heard you can buy the headliner on line for around 250-300. Not sure if I will go that route or just have an upholstery shop install it. Either way the front glass has to come out.

Thanks for posting the pics. I just bought a 1982 fj60 a few months back. I will post some pics when I get a chance. You got a great deal....I paid 5K for mine. Some of the cosmetic issues are the same on the inside.
