17" x 8" American Racing Mojaves with 265/70-17 Yokohama Geolander M/T. The truck is also lifted 2"(suspension). The 17" rims clear the outer tie-rod ends with no issues even with the 4.5" of back spacing.
Autonik headlights with additional lights cut into the lower portion of the front bib. The round amber lights (Grote) carry out the parking light duties and at the same time have a built in DOT spec. reflector to keep the front end legal. I wired the amber LED's inside the headlights for turn...
Brian in Oregon here's a shot of the opposite side of the engine. I don't have an online album but if you look through the ROTW archives you will find 'alumacruiser'. There are a few more shots of my project located there along with a brief description.
Mark's adaptor used to mate 350 cu.in. SBC to stock Toyota 4 speed transmission/t-case. The 327's do have a shorter water pump but I went with the longer style pump found on the 350's.
Thank you for the comments Coolerman and psreno. If you do some searching there is a company called Scosche Industries and they sell a wafer fuse holder with a built in voltage display. The display is digital and it adds a nice touch to an engine bay while providing information in regards to...
I always fuse the output of the alternator for safety reasons. If the field in the alternator were to collapse it could potentially create a dead short. I always use a fuse rather than a fusible link because they are easier to change if need be. The alternator in the picture is a 140 amp. unit...
Here's a shot of my Mark's conversion kit. I followed their reccomendations and used a CenterForce clutch. You can also see the relationship between the block hugger headers and the small cased(mini) starter.
With the space that was left after the seats were bolted down I ended up having to build my own center console as none of the aftermarket units would fit. I also built the door panels inorder to get enough mounting depth for the magnets and at the same time trying to get the best possible sound...
For keeping things like trunk and door seals pliable I have used a product called Silicone Emulsion, available from any GM dealership. It comes in a small bottle with a cotton ball swab thingy attached to the inside of the lid. I don't know if it will work on the windshield rubber but it may. I...
I have worked with both the EZ-wire and the Painless wiring kits on numerous vehicles. I prefer the fuse panel that Painless provides but their kit is a lot more expensive than the EZ-wire set up. The wire that is used in either of the kits is pretty much identical. The instructions included...
I went with rear jump seats from a Suzuki Sidekick/Chevy Tracker and upholstered them to match the aftermarket front seats. I found that elevating them helped with providing some additional leg room while allowing access to the storage compartment in the floor.
I pretty much did mine the same way. After I had the white paint all over the know I used a small machinist file to remove the excess paint. Only the paint on the knob was removed while the paint inside the lettering remained intact. Afterwards I took some 600 grit sandpaper and a flat surface...
The engine is a Chevrolet 350 cu.in. crate motor rated at 290HP before the Edelbrock add-ons. I used the Marks V8 adaptor kit which allowed me to use the stock Toyota T-case and transmission. One of the benefits of this kit is the driveshaft lengths are stock and unaltered.
Using a new tub, cowl, fenders etc. I chose to dry fit everything first as though I was going to take it for a drive. Then I completely stripped it down and took the tub/cowl along with all of the other body components to the painter. After he was finished painting the parts I picked them up and...
The Dayco belts that I used do have the small grooves on the outside. I think it has something to do with increased belt life because they are a bit more flexible than standard belts.
