New development!
Its not when its gets cold. Something else is going on....
Its warm today. I shut the car off and was making calls just sitting in the truck. All of a sudden I hear a thunk thunk thunk right at the spot where the master cylinder is....I looked under truck and no fluid.The...
My 1986 FJ60 will leak (I think) fluid out of the master cylinder every time it gets cold. It is OEM and lately I just notice the clutch is a little wonky and I put dot 3 fluid in and I am good to go.
I find it odd though that my 1993 jeep which has a 2 year old master does the same exact...
Florida is awesome by the way....they do not regulate how much you drive or how much rust....nothing. I guess I just need to figure out how to keep the FJ registered there until I move back. My thought is we spend a good deal of time keeping these things ship shape and we should be driving them.
Can get Antique Tag in Florida!
Unfortunately I am in Tennessee now but they do not let you drive except on weekends with that kind of tag.
Anyone else know how to buck the system?
yikes on that! Hopefully that takes a while?....So I guess its time to drill a hole in the bottom of GMC canister and then figure out where each tube goes. I am sure there is a thread somewhere explaining it in detail.
It turns out that the tubes that go to the vapor canister are pretty important. The one that leads back over to the driver side needs to be capped or it can create issues starting. After going through this for 4 months, my starter finally died Saturday morning but would work after a thump. I...

I bought the new canister so I may as well put it in and try that...I would think that would accomplish the above?....I am going to try new plugs first though. If neither of these things help I am going to put on my overalls and attempt to replace fuel pump on my own. I will check back once I...
I must report that I found some ATF that was Dextron II compatible. I topped it off and all the issues went away. It may just be in my mind but the stick shift even feels smoother when shifting. I do not have a mailing address here yet so ordering off the internet is not yet possible.
I would...
http://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-and-transmission-fluid/transmission-fluid/castrol-dexron-vi-transmax-automatic-transmission-fluid/930140/ Funny how the computer in Autozone does not recognize this as a supported fluid. I am starting to feel like I live there.
So reading through this....I am amazed with all the steps required. Can I not just "top" off the steering fluid? For the record the actual fluid is ATF Dextron or Dextron II .
Okay from what you are saying above...moving forward with GMC part would be beneficial for cold starts. I was holding off thinking unplugging tubes was the best method at this point.
so far looking through all the manuals....I am not finding the steering fluid parameters. For my 93 Jeep I have these two huge manuals that explain triplicate every procedure. I can not believe we do not have that for the FJ60 1986. I see the one for the "2f engine" and "chassis" but what...
