Any way to bring a 92 HDJ81 across the Canadian border?

I asked this question last year but found another 92 HDJ81 at a salvage auction in Canada, no damage to it so it might go high but would love to pick it up cheap and use it to transplant the driveline into my 97. Is it possible to maybe purchase it, find a shop in Canada to remove the running...

Import 92 HDJ81 as half cut?

Found a 92 HDJ81 in Canada, complete vehicle, even has what appears to be a factory winch built into a stock looking bumper. Want to buy it for parts, it is cheap enough with plenty of good parts. Just wondering what is involved in getting it into the USA as a half-cut? Can I just cut it in...

Fuel pump relay, power to it?

Ok, no start issue. I have a 97 FZJ80 that I only drive a few times a month, 180,000 miles. About 6 months ago it died while idling, thought that was strange but it started right back up and ran fine. It has run without issue until the other day. I changed the belts started it up and it idled...

Have listed my LX450 twice on Ebay, it is a 96 with 181,000 miles, has previous accident damage, some of you might have seen the listing. I bought it at auction to resell, have way too much in it, needed $650 in air conditioning work as well as seat bottoms recovered for $350. Besides all of...

    What engine is this?

Found a 79 FJ40 at a wholesale auction, haven't actually seen anything but the pictures but I don't know what engine this is? Obviously a diesel, turbo conversion probably, hopefully a Toyota? Auction is next week, want to find out before I spend too much on it Rusty

    Climate control problems

Have a new problem, probably just a wire or connector I missed but I don't have any fan speeds other than low, my A/C is not coming on and I can only get air to blow from the dash vents (no floor or defrost) I have had a lot of my dash apart, at least the gauge cluster working on finding a...

    Gauge cluster fix!

I have been sorting through my wiring trying to find a short, or a reason why my temperature gauge was not working! Not all was lost, I did find some questionable wires which I repaired but still no help, gauge still went to 3/4 as soon as the key was turned on and moved erratically while...

    No Catalytic converter problems?

Just finishing up a 96 project, the cats were stolen from it, going to the muffler shop tomorrow to get new one but right now the 80 is has a really bad miss, even at idle but mainly during acceleration. I replaced the plugs this morning hoping that would be it but same thing, have checked for...

    Short!

I hate electrical problems! About to wrap up this 96 FZJ80 and now found an electrical short in the gauge fuse, blew the fuse, even melted the fuse block a bit! I am pretty sure it is associated with the blower because with a new fuse in and the ignition on the fan is blowing at a very low...

    Temperature gauge not working

Trying to revive a 96 FZJ80, coming back together nicely (nothing really wrong just abused and filthy) The problem is that the temp gauge instantly jumps to the 3/4 mark as soon as you turn the key (even on a cold engine) The P.O. installed an aftermarket temp gauge (I assume because the one in...

    Gutted Catalytic converter

Just bought a 96 FZJ80, plan to resell this one, found a deal I couldn't pass up. Anyway, seems the cat was gutted, not sure what to do? Seems to run fine, hard to tell with the noise, for now plan to run a test pipe to get the noise back down a bit then go from there, think I threw away the one...

    Change your plug wires!

Searching through some boxes of parts I bought for my 97 about a year ago I found a new set of factory plug wires and distributor cap that I forgot about. My 97 has about 160,000 miles on it now, still on original wires and cap. I know I have read how new wires can improve performance, I have...
