Ok this is odd... I placed the truck in service mode, properly jumping e1 and te1, confirmed by the binking CEL on the dash, then re-set timing to 3*. Shut the truck off and removed jumper, and re-started. Timing remained at 3*... I re-set jumper and advanced timing to 8*, removed jumper and...
Oh I'm fully aware of the need to regear. I've got a built t case with the 10% over and under drive gears, a set of rci axles and manual hubs sitting on the shelf waiting for install. Just saving up for the f/r diff gears. I'm not suggesting I try to solve the acceleration problem with extreme...
And come to think of it, when I had the rig baselined at Valley Hybrids, they replaced the distributor and cap, so I'm confident they had the timing set for ideal power/efficiency.
Smog is the worst. 🙄
Thanks for the input. After reading this thread that was my first thought, that they didn't jump the pins... so I placed a call the very next morning... I spoke to the tech and even before I mentioned the pins he cut me off and said "and yes I checked the timing in test mode with the pins...
Gonna bump an older thread here... regarding timing. I recently had to smog my 94, and while it passed emissions, evap etc. the tech came back and said he failed it because the timing was set at 15*
He set it back to the factory recommended 3* but advised me it would run more sluggish. I had...
FOR SALE: complete OEM roof rack from my '94. Mounting bolts included. Condition is good, just sun faded from years of being a roof rack.
Located in Penngrove, Sonoma County, NorCal.
$50.
Scored this sweet ARB rack off a mudder. It's powder coated a cool gunmetal gray and has a tray up front. I wasn't originally going to run a roof rack but this was a killer deal, plus with the family of 4 and a doggo, interior space is at a premium.
Welp... got the smoke machine and put it to work, but couldn't find any leaks! I used the gas cap adapter and charged the tank, nothing... I pulled the hoses off the evap canister and tested both sides of each... nothing!
Any other lines or hoses I'm missing?
Have you had a bad run with Coopers? These are my first Cooper MT. I've had their discoverer AT's on my old Tacoma a few times and they were great. I've always been a Goodyear MT-R Kevlar fan when it came to the muds. But these were a pretty great deal for 5 barely used 37's so I'm giving it a...
Hey Mud,
Looking for bit of assistance here. Took my 94 in for smog and it passed everything EXCEPT the Fuel Evaporative Controls Functional test. Tech explained that they pressurize the tank and if it leaks a certain amount then it fails. Says likely a hose or something.
Before I go dropping...
For sale:
Pair of stock radius arms off my 94 FZJ80. Good condition. 180k miles. Bushings look like they have life left in em. No issues, pulled them for the Delta Arms.
$50.00
Located in Penngrove, CA 94951
Not really interested in shipping. They'll be expensive.
Delta 5L arms are in! Install was a piece of cake... little ratchet strap action to pull the axle forward and a little wiggling to get the hole lined up and they were in there! Have to wait till next week to get the alignment numbers but it already drives a thousand times better.
Order placed this morning. Hopefully they are in stock.
-edit- yep! They shipped today. Be here by Saturday!
Next up is going to be the T-case, hubs, axles and knuckle rebuild. And since mine's a 94. I'll have to add the locking center diff button to complete the part time kit.
Yeah for real. I'm going to have to play around with the CDCV adjusters on the shocks to dial in a smooth ride...
Good to hear. I talked to my tire/alignment guy and he too suggested the more caster the better. Says many of the bigger full size f250's on 37's are running +6-7* for added stability.
Ok I'm going with the 5L's. I hung 200 lbs off the front tow hooks and it barely compressed the suspension at all. Less than 1/2" of deflection from hub to bottom of fender.
