I have a 1998 LX470 with a charging issue that ruined my day. After driving the car for a couple of hours, the battery light came on and the voltage dropped. This lasted for about twenty minutes then the voltage rose to normal and the light turned off. After about 30 minutes we repeated the...
I wanted to add that the adaptor/trim ordered of Amazon was a bust. The seller sent me the incorrect item (sent an adaptor for a GX470) and said all the right things to keep amazon off his back, but ultimately failed to send the the correct piece. I too turned to eBay for the correct item at a...
It is the A/C line. You are most likely going to want that off for your service. I worked around mine the last time, but it was a pain. Not next time (soon). If you are wiling to do a redneck repair, I simply put a small slice of innertube rubber around the line there and zip tied it...
Thanks for your detailed information here. With what you detailed and the links you provided, I am on my way to musical bliss. I am doing things a little different. I am using the preamps on the new stereo I purchased, using RCAs to connect to my new amps powering my 6.5" Kickers and twin 12"...
I'm back in the game! When I sold my Cruiser a couple of years ago, I didn't think I'd be able to get another one until the kids were all out of the house. I sold my Lincoln this week with the intent of buying another older Camry, but surprise! I ran into a guy who was in financial trouble and...
I have a friend with a gen 1 Sequoia-nearly 300k miles. But just like looking at Cruisers, the next generation is always more refined. If you can find one with the miles to make it near your price range, swing for an 08 or newer. They are better in every way--larger, more refined, better...
Dealer listing. Not mine. There is a Carfax link. Was an Oregon LC, then off to Alaska. Now in Utah. It's a beauty....
Used 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser For Sale | Bountiful UT
I just completed a 260 mile trip from Rock Springs, WY to Idaho Falls, ID. I calculated 15.2 mpg (16 corrected, for tire size) averaging 65 mph. I'm running 285/75/16 KO2's at 46 psi on my 1999. The only other thing I've done worth mentioning is install a snorkel.
This Cruiser is currently in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Here is a picture of how the KO2's look, in case someone has been living under a rock.... (taken before the dorkel install)
I've only seen the highway a couple of times with them, but the noise is comparable to the KO's when new--not very loud. My experience with the KO's has them becoming somewhat noisy if they aren't rotated often.
SOLD. 1999 Cruiser with 220,273 miles.--$7000
New--
-Timing Belt-Water Pump-Tensioner.
-4-285/75/16 BFK KO2's. Mounted 200 miles ago. Spare is non matching and used, but is the same size.
-Dorkel. This is clearly a Safari knock-off.
-Battery.
-Hood Struts.
-Steering rack grommet.
-The...
I've never ran the Coopers, but I've run over 250k on various KO's (80, 100, F150, F250). I recently put KO2's on my 100, but I've only had very light trail time with them, so I have no real feedback there. As far as highway ride and noise, they are right on par with the KO's. We've had...
I did use a harmonic balancer puller, a cheap one I picked up for $10 from Amazon, and it seemed to work fine. The tool you are looking for to re-install is available from a number of places--the most common listed is the Schley SCH64300 which shows that it will work on the Toyota 4.7. It runs...
That video posted by 2003lx470 is actually a three part series. I used this series to do my service with great success. The only thing from the videos you don't need to do is drop the AC compressor. Leave those bolts in until it comes time to actually remove the water pump. At that time you...
Like the last poster said, go easy. It may help if you have someone pulling straight out as you tap. I gave it a little too much of a tap and cracked the crossover pipe it goes into. I didn't know it at first, but it definitely had a hairline crack. It delayed reassembly by a week and cost...
