Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

Latch is definitely tight and firm in to the bottom rubber stopper. Thanks for the follow up - just figured I'd provide some food for thought.

Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

Something I've noticed is that when going 70+MPH, or going over rumble strips or gravel, is the tire has a "twisting" type motion on the carrier, essentially back-and-forth rotating type motion (1/4 inch each way?). I know it doesn't seem like that much, but it's definitely noticeable and would...

if you have solar to charge battery/s how is yours set up ?

I run a really basic setup - dual 50w panels to charge controller. Charge controller to 2nd battery. Also have solenoid from starter better to 2nd battery. Only thing the 2nd needs to power is a small center console fridge, phones, and occasional laptop. It’s more than enough

Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

Sorry if this is obvious from your comment, but did you try mounting it in to the hole in the GGM bumper extension mount closest to the pivot/swing point? that should fix any binding, then just have to find a strut with the right extended and compressed lengths. I will be back to the cruiser...

Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

First one won’t fit the bolt pattern though, third one is for jeeps. But the first concept fits with the accessory mount idea GGM is working with, but I’d be worried about all that weight at that leverage. I would think it’s much better side by side with the tire

Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

That’s a good point, all that weight out behind the tire would create a lot of leverage that wouldn’t be as good

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

@GGM rear tire carrier installed. Install was super smooth. Now I can get a full size spare, relocate my towing harness, get a tank under the rear, etc. I didn't have a need for a fully armored rear bumper (or spend $2,500+) so this is the best case solution. Definitely need a piston/strut...

Bolt on 80 Series Tire Carrier Compatible with Factory Bumper

Install went smooth and pretty quick, I did not have the metal extension coming out of the bumper bracket so no sawing was necessary and everything lines up perfectly. It swings very freely so definitely a strut is needed which I am going to work on for sure, just need to work out where it...
