    Tuning Weber 32/36 on a 2F

...compression test is necessary to know the baseline condition of the engine - otherwise, you chase your tail trying to tune it. Many times a Weber is installed due to a failed engine, not a failed stock carb. A Weber will not fix a worn out engine - this is why you must check the compression...

    Weber Tuniing Question

...compression test both hot and warm. Record those numbers and when you ask questions let us know the true engine condition as well. Most times a Weber is installed to try to solve a weak engine issue - changing carbs will actually make it worse as the Weber is truly more sensitive to tuning...

    Weber Tuniing Question

From everything I've read - it sounds like your whole problem is a leak at the adapter plates and that is very common with the Weber adapter kits. The LC kit was one of the worst they designed, no true way to get them down flat enough not to leak at least some with the heating/cooling cycles of...

Silly Question #2 - Where the Hell is the PCV Valve?

...for your Cruiser - it should be jetted very closely to match that engine and it's flow rates/fuel curve requirement. Here's the issue with the Weber - it likes no more than 3psi of fuel pressure and off-road even less. There is no true regulator available today that is reliable and consistent...

    Caviar anyone (Warning: NSWF)

Wish I could find the pictures of the Weber 38DGES twin pump Italian model carb a guy bought from England and had shipped here directly - it literally looked like someone took a shi*t in it before boxing...but smelled worse . It spent a week in the parts washer and the bill included dumping the...

    Weber Carb Help

...overly thick included "gaskets" and they get bent even further , resulting in heat cycles slowly warping the base of the carb . When I built Weber setups , those plates were ground to within .0005" flat , .015" aircraft gasket material used and locktite to prevent the bolts backing out ...

    Mystery Bolts??!!

...hills to avoid fuel sloshing into the idle jet air bleeds - it's a common mod and fine to run . That is , however , quite an interesting way to address the throttle linkage issue with mounting the Weber that way . Bad part is , looks to be the 32/36DGV version , far too small for a 2F . Sarge

Carburetor backfiring at a speed of 40

...noise - may have one valve too tight and holding it open , hence "bang cycle" reference , lol . The accelerator pump is on the outside of the Weber , they rarely ever fail unless you hit them with very aggressive brake cleaner and such . Worst part that most folks don't know about the DGV...

    3 on the Tree Diagram

Same with some of those e-clips - the choke arm metric ones for the Weber DGV series usually ricochet off your face to points unknown , I have a whole bag of those and occasionally mail out a few... I've had some other 3 spd column shifters apart - none are fun to reassemble either. Sarge

Carburetor backfiring at a speed of 40

None of the Weber carbs , unless you go to a DCNF (40-42mm size) instead of the DGV series is going to match the flow rate of the stock carb on a Cruiser engine . Also , when setting the float on any model DGV Weber , make certain you do the settings per the Weber drawing - the fuel inlet needs...

    Webere Carb Positioning

...bell crank setup on 2 planes to make it work right . I was going to fab and offer kits to do this , but it's just too much of a pain for what it's worth - the stock carbs or Trollhole units work far better than the Weber DGV series . Even the 38DGAS is too small for the 4.2L 2F engine... Sarge

Weber carb issues, climbing steep angles

Yes , all modern Weber DGV carbs use a damper spring in the float valve - standard issue . This is why I push the drawing showing the orientation of the carb during measurement . If you don't hang that float vertically from it's pin , the measurement is dead wrong . This will make you appreciate...

    Missing carburetor insulator

...are flattened on the platen , I'd use a slightly thinner and higher quality gasket material that won't dry out and crack - that's how I did the Weber carb setups with exception to the Sami and some Toyota mini truck builds which were aluminum adapter types . All surfaces spec'd out to less...

    Missing carburetor insulator

...engines that is bigger . That said , had the same issue - the used insulator had a lot of dried up pieces missing of that gasket . Being an old Weber rebuilder/mod shop I just made new gaskets and ground the old bonded material off - I have a platen plate setup that keeps things within .0001"...

    Replacing carb, what to choose

Absolutely agree - true Weber carbs are not the DGV series to start with - that series was designed for the US market to be used as retrofit kits on a budget . The genuine Italian casting Webers are phenomenal and perform far above anything else - if tuned correctly . There are no 40-42mm...

    Replacing carb, what to choose

...like Trollhole's unit and others . A true , desmogged , Japanese-manufactured carb is the best choice , in my opinion . The current market Weber carbs that are available are all Spanish castings - Italian originals are extremely rare and highly sought as they work a lot better and last much...

    Replacing carb, what to choose

Don't put a Weber on it , as much as I like them on other engines there is no reason to use one on a Cruiser - the kit is crap and even the 38DGAS is too small in cfm . There really is no way to install a decent Weber that will support the engine and fit properly without making the kit price...

    1976 fj40 Weber carb question

Trollhole's carb would have been over a hundred bucks cheaper , and feed that engine the cfm it needs . The bottom line is the Weber , as an aftermarket kit , doesn't fit the Cruiser's engine very well at all . Now you really need to spend the time to fix the adapter plates and their stupid...

    1976 fj40 Weber carb question

...only dislike I have is directly associated with Land Cruisers - there is no decent way (without a really expensive kit) to fit any DGV series Weber onto a Cruiser due to the way the truck is built . The DGV just doesn't belong on a 1F or 2F engine as they are not big enough in cfm's to start...

    1976 fj40 Weber carb question

...setup is to use the stock mechanical pump , a bypass type fuel filter (like the CJ Jeep version and others) and a return line off that filter . Weber DGV series are designed for 3psi of fuel pressure - good mechanical pumps push 5-7psi , too much . The fuel filter's bypass is smaller than the...
