Another vote for the 19100-61180 vacuum advance dizzy. I replaced the original vacuum retard dist. on my '76 with this brand new OEM masterpiece. Result was better idle and smoother acceleration. I also passed CA smog with it today, with some strategic vacuum hose routing.
My Feb '76 passed CA smog check, always a good day.
Pre smog checklist:
Oil & filter change (Valvoline 20-50 w/ zinc, OEM filter)
OEM pcv valve
Change timing from 12 to 7 deg. btdc
New spark plugs (NGK BPR5EY-11)
Adjust carb per Toyota FSM

Thank you for the info. I do want to keep my stock shifter set-up. I'm trying to get as much information on the Orion as I can before my rig gets worked on. Reliability is always #1 with me, my 40 is my daily driver, and I often go wheeling solo.
I'm also going to visit Advance Adapters and ask...

I have a 87 FJ60 rebuilt starter from the local auto parts store on my '76 right now, and I just picked up a Toyota remanufactured starter for the parts shelf.
I was under my 40 looking at all of the fluid leaks and noticed that my rear drive shaft was out of phase, so I remedied that problem.
It rides much smoother on the highway now.
What is weird is that the last time the driveshaft was off of the diff was 18 years ago, when Man-A-Fre installed my...
Drove it to the shooting range to get some trigger time in before Chairman Gavin Newsom Mao locks everything down tomorrow.
Parked next to a clean SOA 40 on 35's. It made my 40 with 2.5" lift and 33's look tiny.
Never did find the owner. After asking several people if they owned the Land...
Hey @KelVarnson, the brakes look good. The spring placement looks correct.
Great meeting you and talking cruisers yesterday at Lowes.
I purchased my headlights from Mud vendor @Racer65. Website: CityRacerLLC.com
I didn't catch your Seinfeld user name reference when we met. If I ever change...
