Conversation from 3speed to 4 or 5 speed.

    1. Yes, the transfer case is different. It is possible to put the 3 speed on the 4 speed, but not a direct swap. Input shaft has to change iirc. Generally the cheapest option is to replace with a pulled H42 and 1 piece t-case as a unit. 2. Yes, you need a new bell housing. You will also need to...

Finally got to put the Lobster in low range today. Open hubs, mostly for the crawl speed, but still a good day.

Thanks. Not mission critical in truth, as it will be a sunny day summer truck and live without doors and the windows most if not all of the time. But, for completeness sake, nice to have.

I look forward to hearing the tales from this great rig, and making my own. I'll try to be worthy. I would rather have driven it north myself, but new job and time off aren't mixing currently. Unfortunately, by the time it makes it north, it'll get tucked away for NH snow season. No way this...

To be 100% sure that @wngrog remains dizzy, and I look ridiculously indecisive, I've decided to keep the Lobster. The little devil on the shoulder won. @whitey45 I think it was you who gave the final push back from the edge with that pic. @jmlockwood was doing a fair amount of behind the scenes...

This board and the people on it are a huge part of what makes these things so great. I have plenty of reasons to rein in cruiser ownership in my life out here; a little enabling on the forum is a good thing. Yes, those doors really make the package.

Yet apparently is the operative word. Sitting here on a Monday morning. Debating whether I should drop the price on the Lobster. Move it along, "one and done", simplify. Sensible answer, no doubt. Then that little voice whispers "she's so close, finish the job". Install the Sniper, a few tweaks...

Tires are Maxxis Bighorn 30x9.5 15s. In my experience, and in this case, Maxxis run big vs other tires. These are probably as big or bigger than BFG 31x10.5, and you can get the skinnier tire this way.

Alright folks, ad going up in a bit, today or tomorrow. I want a good home for this old gal. Price is less than I have in it (isn't it always) but if I'm out of line or you feel you're absolutely the right home and short of funds, let's talk. $18k as she sits, and I will include a dual circuit...

Long rant to follow, you've all been warned. TL;DR I blame you @wngrog ;) . Project patina got me to buy the 67 patina rig. Then I realized I really didn't want to spend my whole post Navy summer restoring a truck, so I warehouse that one "for later" and I pick up the Lobster to drive and play...

You know how I feel about that 72 you're building! Part of the "realignment" is considering having one completely done rig vs multiple trucks in various states. 67 patina and the Lobster toys toward that beauty?

Supposed to be quiet, doesn't change the high range ratio like the 4:1. I don't know, still sitting on the pallet as Georg sent it to me. Twin stick, fj60 shifter and crossmember in there too. Ready to drop in!
