    Replacing motor mounts

I've wondered about the disparity (some say easy others have a difficult time) that seems to exist when changing out the motor mounts. Since physically the engines (1FZ-FE) and the mounts are the same....I have to wonder if HOW the engine is lifted accounts for the differences. Some folks...

It's quite a bit of work to pull the valve cover (pull throttle body, loosen main harness at firewall, remove plug wires, etc). IF his cams aren't off or timing chain skipped, OP should be able to get TDC on #1 cylinder (compression stroke) and stab the dizzy close enough to get it running by...

    AC folks........

You can 'force feed' it by heating the can with a hairdryer. Also 'quickly' tipping the can on its side (for just a second) to let a SMALL amount of liquid refrigerant enter the manifold gauge set....BUT this can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing...because you really don't want a...

You'll have to heat the can a bit.

I would, I'd bring that low side up to 30-35 psi and watch that the high side doesn't go over about 225 (at 90° ambient). Then see if that pressure will hold. If it does...then you might have a shot at making the system work (at least for awhile). You'd need to evacuate it, pull a deep vacuum...

👍 Clarification noted. He would be either on the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke (depending on valve position). He actually wouldn't need to do any of these things, just start at 0 on the HB if it starts....you're good, if it doesn't (sputters, coughs and tries to start) then he's 180°...

    Partsouq Shipping Head Gasket

They know how to pack things and don't skimp on packing material or methods. They know all too well how roughly packages will be treated. I've never received a damaged or incorrect part from them.

They are showing up to me at the end of page 1 See them now. You're about a tooth off on the distributor alignment and might also have hit a tooth on the cam gear straight on instead of meshing with it. Rotate the crank pulley just a smidgen (the least amount you can) to move the cam gear just...

Okay, this is definitely the issue. I had to pull and align twice before I got it in and centered on the adjusting bolt. Could barely keep it running, but it started. I checked the timing and it was about -15 degrees. I clocked the distributor all the way clockwise and got it to about -2...

Question for A/C experts - aluminum hard line repair. Becoming pretty desperate.

'Small Diameter' flex hose and fittings are available. I'd prefer hardlines in that location, but it might be an option for you. Typically #6 small diameter hose will run 5/16" I.D. and 39/64ths (just under 5/8") O.D. not taking up any more room than most fittings or couplers.

You can as @BILT4ME aptly points out above. IF it was running well (correctly timed) before you pulled it and IF you get it back exactly as it was before (both rotor and distributor body position) it 'should' return to normal when you stab it. But often folks get it off a tooth and rotate the...

    AC folks........

IF the system holds that charge for a few days you might well be able to evacuate it, add a little oil, new drier, pump it down (vacuum) and recharge. Can't say how long it will last with so many unknowns....but perhaps worth a try without incurring too much expense and output of effort.

Now...we're getting somewhere. How much refrigerant is in the system now and what was the ambient temperature when you took those readings?

^^^ Oh Lord NO.....! I'd fill the whole damn area with expanding foam before pulling the intake again (kidding). Just finished putting mine back on after a head gasket replacement.

    Cooling Situation...Is This Normal?

Should, higher rpm (up to a point is good ) keeps the engine in its power-band, fan is turning faster, water pump moving more coolant (of course engine is turning faster too...but not lugging so much).
