Yep! effected lots of folks:frown:... but hopefully worked its way out by now........

Yeah after we sold a half-a-million of 'em now they come out with a recall...........

We use to sell them over the counter for $190............

NOW they retail for $27

could tell there was a recall coming when they reduce that drastically

It affects all 7.3 engines from 1997-2003

Now the recall specifys Ford Super Duty, Excursion & E-series but should also include F250 & F350(97 &98)

They're not even mailing customer letters until next week but go to the dealer now and they'll do it......as long as your vehicle shows up on OASIS

any problems with this I'll be happy to help where I can, e-mail me through
MUD and I'll give it a shot........

So can I just get a new CPS for free?

I already replaced mine. (at the $20.00 per price)

YES

if they won't just hand it over I'm sure I can get you one...............or 2 :D

just PM or e-mail me for details

Yeah a buddy of mine bought one of the last ones @ $190 for his spare

so I wonder why the '95 powerstrokes aren't covered?

Thanks for the extra details, specifically that my '97 F350 is indeed a part of the recall!

I talked to the local dealer and they said no appointment necessary and just swing by they're moving these to the front of all repairs. In other words - no need to drop it off, I guess the repair is quick while you wait...

Different sensor................the earlier ones(including the 6.9) use a sensor called a Tach sensor

The 97-ups it's called a Cam postion sensor

not trying to say you're wrong, but when I went to the dealer, the '94-'96 part number Ford F4TZ12K073C was called a cam sensor. Mine has crapped out on me before...some show it fitting up into the later 7.3l as well....

But I AM wrong.................I've just never sold one(however we do have 5 in stock so somebody here is)

Interesting part number change trail..............original 96 part number changes to '04 Heavy Truck(L-series and Cargo CF series), and then back to a '94 part number........unusual for Ford

However, in F-series pickups and E-series vans not used since 96 and definitely not as crappy as the later ones...............

And you never know................................they might just add it to this recall later(it's happened before)
