Fellas,

I've been noticing a lot of chatter on our usual home frequency of 146.460 as of late. This is due to someone setting up a simplex repeater that is also tied into the Echo link system. Consequently, we are cross talking over each other when we're in ABQ and it just gets louder as you head south. The repeater must be in Los Lunas/Belen area I'm guessing.

A second simplex frequency that I've programmed into my radio is 146.400 and named it HDC_2. I suggest y'all do the same if we encounter chatter on our home freq of 146.460, aka HDC_1 in my radio. Chances are that this may not be an issue for our upcoming xmas tree run.

For the folks who like to share their HT's to others, please program in the second freq and call it HDC_2.

Thanks.

Good to know, thanks. I have the text part of my APRS beacon set to say that I'm monitoring 146.460 MHz so I usually do, but it's so dead most of the time that I scan for other activity. One of the last times I was in ABQ, a guy with a mobile rig in his hummer saw my beacon and called, we had a nice conversation for several miles. That was last summer though, guess I'll see what it's like on 146.460 next time before I switch freqs. for my text beacon.

When we did the Puerco run this summer we talked with the HAM down in Los Lunas whom set up the cross-link. He does not have the link up all the time but it is a good idea to change to 146.40 rather than trying to convince the other HAM to change his freq.

Just bringing this thread up top, I thought the repeater on HDC_1 was gone but it's back. So, looks like we'll have to use HDC_2 for club runs!!
