All,

For the first 2010 monthly event, we have decided to make a club trip to Georgia for a very special HAMOM for the parents of a soldier killed in action. It's a long drive, but an event that will be worth it. I'm, sure most of everyone has seen some of the threads on it. There seems to be mutliple clubs involved, and likely a large turnout from the posts...

Link to directions to the general area, I'll get a specific address and post it later.

Seems that GA and SC clubs have most of the specifics worked out, but I think if you've got a specialty tool and the room, you might want to think about bringing it. How much wrenching we'll be doing is unknown, but we are going down to show support for the Southeast Cruiser Community.

Camping will be on the residence and I will verify space. I'm not going to plan meals, we'll figure that out when we arrive.

Post up if you're going, and how long. Then we'll figure out the logistics of travel...

Work permitting I plan on going down, if I can catch a ride, friday night or saturday morning (doesn't matter when) and returning sunday evening.

Hey Guys - some info about lodging is in the main UC thread.

Also, IIRC someone from ONSC said something to me in a PM about helping out with food but I can't find the PM.

I have a UC member who can bring a large grill and is a damn good cook (owns his own restaurant) but I'll need someone to cook Sat PM and we also need to figure out what food to provide if we are providing food.

Does anyone want to help out with this?

Thanks!

I spoke to you about helping out with some food. We could do a large pot of chili throughout the day, and people could eat off it all day long. I'd be glad to purchase the items needed, would just need an appox. headcount to feed. PM me with the details and we'll work something out... I'm also fine with pulling KP duty wherever possible!

I've got a turkey fryer setup for the chili...

So is it just Al, myself, Darin, and possibly Brett the only ones going down?

If you guys (Al, Brett, Greg) are the only ones, and possibly Jon, would you be against all driving down together? I'm asking becuase I'm debating on taking the Freestyle, rather than the Cruiser. I know we SHOULD be driving a Cruiser to a Cruiser event, but it's better on gas, it holds a lot of stuff and we'll be more comfortable...

Freestyle is good with me.

All, I've offered up to provide the group with a big pot of chili and to keep the coffee pot brewing while we're there. So, we'll be the semi-official food provider for at least one day of this event...

Just curious, what are the travel plans for the weekend? Are you leaving Friday night and coming back Sunday night? Looks like a 7hr drive from Raleigh.

I think those are the plans but i'll let brian speak up about that.

Brian just let me know and I can buy huge cans of beans and other things for the chilli.

I would love to attend this. I will check my work schedule. If the plan is to go friday night nd come back sunday night then it will make it even more possible.

Is there going to be a car pull or are people going in there own vehicels?

Is the group camping or staying in hotel?

Sorry if questions have already been answered.

It depends on who wants a ride... I can leave work early on Friday, not sure what everyone else can do. Then we could get in late Friday night, problem would be where do we stay and setting up a tent at 1am is not an ideal situation. But, we'd be there for the morning. If that's the way we'd like to go, then I'll let them know to expect us early Saturday morning...

Other option is leaving EARLY Sat. morning from the triangle and possibly picking people up as we go... or hooking up to drive.

Then plan to leave around 2 or so Sunday afternoon to head back home?

I'm game for hotel or tent, I'm sure weather will play a role...

I think I may just try and pick stuff up for it when we get down there, rather than have to truck it down...

Tent is the cheapest option, and the best in my eyes
