Too late and have no answer for the coolant leak however...
When I did my timing belt I made marks on the timing belt and on the cam and crank teeth. I then taped the new belt to the old belt, so they were side by side and lined up teeth to teeth. After counting the teeth in between and...
@MrTorgue
I just installed this radiator this last weekend. The biggest issues I ran into:
1. This radiator is a bit thicker than stock and the end tanks are square, not round.
2. The 4 mounting tabs for the radiator on the stock radiator are flush with the leading (bumper side) edge of...
A/C drain is on the passenger side just behind the wheel well, pretty much in line with the door seam. Should see a hose almost poking through there.
Def sounds like your drain is backed up. Have you changed the cabin filter as well?
Amsoil is a top tier gear fluid company. Other boutique brands include Redline, Shaeffers, Renewable Lubricants. All of these should be good for 50k+ miles.
I have Redline in now but will switch to Amsoil bc of the squeeze bags - will be so much easier.
If you are looking for off the...
I will overshare a bit to hopefully help out.
I had over $15k in damage to my GX a couple years ago. I am a first responder and crashed into my deputy chiefs personal truck responding to a call. At the end of the day, I don't believe you can say you are fine adding scraped, scratches...
Thanks @teejnut ! I order the bolts and nuts from your links and I have the Morimoto RetroRubber.
For final aiming, do you lose the ability to use the stock adjuster? In other words, does your final aiming on the car need to be your final aim when everything is bolted in and sealed?
@teejnut , @ambiguous etc...finally getting around to doing these, any tips, tricks, insights that you can provide?
Questions I have for my first retro as well.
- Best way to open the headlights is heatgun?
- Do I need to get additional bolts/nuts to mount?
- How are you doing final...
I would check to see what the emissions test actually involves - plug in only vs. plug in and visual inspection. Additionally you are assuming someone is going to notice 1 wire and 1 additional relay and know what it is. From a systems perspective, nothing would get flagged.
Google a guy named SlyFox75 and air pump bypass kit. You don't need to go through the whole ordeal of removing the manifold.
However, if you are going to remove the manifold, replacing/rebuilding your starter is highly recommended. Might as well upgrade the starter lead wire too. Google for...
I would look up OTRAMM timing belt change on youtube. He has a 2 part series on replacing the timing belt and only uses the factory marks. I was ultra paranoid and made marks on the sprockets, old belt and new belt but clearly you're in deep now.
Hope it's going well!
I changed mine out years ago. It is dead simple once you "see" what you need to do. You are a little blind going in, so taking a vid with your phone just to get the lay of the land is helpful. At least you can visualize what you are feeling at that point.
Have you seen this thread...
google a guy named slyfox75 for the bypass and you will see why it's needed.
For your initial maintenance, it's called Stage 0 and again google is your friend for it.
Adding to greens list above:
- PCV Valve
- Gas Cap bc they do go bad and throw a code
- Clean throttle body and MAF sensor...
