Colorado Passes - LC 200 Stock

for that reason, i like the other less popular passes when it comes to traffic. I liked Pearl Pass the best, zero traffic -- and we were on the trail the whole day. Actually I managed to do Black Bear with no one around. I enjoy the trails that way as I can soak in the views a lot more.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

to be fair, only 2 rigs broke. Suzuki Vitara tore off a diff mount not less than a mile into the trail. Then a CV (4th Gen 4R) driven by a revlimiter bouncer driver. All those behind him helped him swap it out and turned around while 4 of us quite a bit ahead of them finished (in-and-out...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Full day on our local black trail (Mesabi Mountain Trail). About 11 rigs came in but 4 made it to the end. Couple breakages due to some unfortunate driving. My damage list: - my tire mount bracket. Bad weld on my end so i made sure it's burned up nice this time with multiple passes, and...

How long for Hole in the Rock Trail?

We ended up not running it. My buddy broke a shock off Swell by Hanksville. He had to drive back to Moab so that pushed our schedule back. It was a bummer for me since this was as close i would get to running HITR but it's all part of the adventure. Overall the trip went well for me, we...

    FJ80, 100 series, or Sequoia?

I have 2 kids, wife, and a dog and use my 80 as my family adventure truck. I choose it since we (me) like to get off the beaten path and crawl on rocks so we can go poop on the open wilderness. But realistically, the 80 is not the best choice for what looks like your intended needs. It's old...

Colorado Passes - LC 200 Stock

gotcha, understand that these trails change quite a bit every year with all that snow, we did it 2 years back. I just remember Mineral Creek has a lot more rock steps to sweat over and more potential for rocker damage, and if he can get past it, he should have cleared BBP. I had to do it solo...

Colorado Passes - LC 200 Stock

took a buddy on a stock 200 thru Mineral Creek heading up Engineer Pass, both of us loaded down with RTT and all camping stuff (2 week trip) with our whole family (4 each) so his suspension was cranked down. Yet the 200 did amazingly well thru Mineral Creek with proper wheel placement... until...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

installed a 30mm coil spacer to reduce the stinkbug. Worked out great, the rear is only about 1/2in higher but loaded down it should even up pretty nice. Also I got the spacer from cruiser outfitters just so i can get this sticker

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

it was an expensive afternoon for my 80. Waiting for my son in the parking lot, with my dog got. We are on a bit of heat wave here and she's real warm so i had to run the AC waiting in the parking lot. Truck roaring all the time with the cooling fan kicked in (160F IAT from heat soak!)...

What did Toyota get right with the 80 series frame?

I'm impressed by the 80 frame, or at least the one i ended up with. Mine was a NJ truck and the rear quarter body has rust and the rear section of frame looked bad from 20yrs of salt. I thought the rear subframe is a goner but surprised it was still solid behind all that surface rust...

Performance comparison of locked FZJ80 and Jeep Rubicon

old thread but always fun. I have both, if i have to score both I would say they are very even. Both rigs have been put thru its paces on both remote touring (aka overlanding) and local offroad parks. - pure wheeling, the 80 feels heavier, less nimble, whereas my JK feels smaller, lighter...

How Stiff is Your Stick ?

Most of these trucks barely had that lever moved in their entire lives, most got stuck. Mine took cheater bar to get it to break free. I sprayed the linkages with pb blaster and it's been smooth since.
