That blue really does pop! I've got a patina'd white bezel from my 71 I'd be willing to part with if you're interested, though it might be a bit too patina'd to look right.
Thanks for the interest! Unfortunately since my last post life has gotten pretty busy (getting engaged, buying a house...), and I haven't made much progress on the 40.
Last major thing I did was about a year ago, but I'm hoping to make some progress this summer.
Got the engine and transfer...
Ordered a front disc brake kit from them back in March and didn’t have issues. Haven’t had problems in the past. Might cross reference their website to see if that part is on back order.
That color in the photo is called Coral. Off the top of my head Cruiser Corps and Specter Off Road have upholstery available in that color. I don't have personal experience but I've heard good things about both. It's vinyl so cost shouldn't be too terrible if you were to get it done locally.
Thanks! I am going with 4WD. I’m using a 2WD 4L60E to save a couple inches of length, and an Advanced Adapters 4L60E to Toyota T-Case adapter. Trying to retain the original transfer case shifter on the dash has been a fun thing to work around.
I’m currently in the process of an LS swap. Engine fits surprisingly well. Only real things that you’ll have to keep an eye out for are the exhaust headers and driveshaft lengths. My build is using a 5.7 LS with 4L60E 2WD tranny and the original 71 FJ transfer case.

FJ70 Relay Rod: 45045-60H01
Since there were never any 70 Series in the states, I'm having trouble finding individual part #s for the tie rods. I ended up purchasing kit 094-01-Z1L-KIT from Specter Off Road. A bit of a waste since I only needed one...
Thanks! I’m away from the 40 at the moment so I can’t take a look at the exact part numbers, but for the tie rod its 100% untouched oem. For the drag link it’s comprised of: 1 LHD 70 series drag link, 1 LHD 70 series relay rod, and 1 LHD FJ40 Driver Side tie rod end. The 70 series drag link has...
Life's been busy so not too much to report on the 40. Drive a few hours to pick up a pair of hard top sides with pop-out windows. Hopefully going to test fit those this weekend.
Main accomplishment has been getting my M8274 rebuilt and mounted on the plate.
