I'm feeling that now. I was able to offset tires by one winter, however...the suburban has two O2s offline, and a few other sensory issues (7 codes in all) and the Dakota is just falling apart. Broken window regulator. TPS, IAC issues hopefully also causing transmission issues (trans in this is...
Well I know what I want now! Been talking a good while with my wife about it. She said you can...another day though. She said she would be remorseful if I purchased a cruiser now but didn't have all the funds necessary to not only build it the way I want, but make it right from the start. Which...

Define "kneepads"
At any rate. Let's take this from another angle shall we? No repairs...everything running way it should...just maintenance.
Ok with that in mind, how much per year so you spend just maintaining your rigs, and how many miles per year do you drive?
Thanks all!!! Been a 10...
Makes sense. The maintenance requirements and stories I'm interested in the most long term. I realize stuff breaks sometimes. And I appreciate the honest advice and financing opinion. I have plenty to think about. Thanks guys!
Drool worthy photo!
Does anything jump out as being a negative vs the later FZJ80s? I'd gladly save the money and buy a 91/92...but I don't want brakes/semi-float axle to be an issue either. I'd rather not have an engine that will eventually need a head gasket no matter how I drive it...and I...
Bringing back the dead once again. I don't agree with removal of the master cylinder cover to push fluid back. I've always released the bleeder at the caliper I'm working on, and pushed the caliper back with a block of wood and a C-clamp...and here is why: You run the risk of introducing dirt...
That is alarming....yes, the rigs are heavy...but they aren't THAT heavy...6,000 lbs stock? That's Suburban/Expedition heavy...and I don't think the brakes are horribly undersized...but maybe I'm wrong there. Do you use your trans and gear down frequently? What kind of terrain do you drive...
Great info! No Slee 6", 44s and V8s for me. LOL. Tires are tires...I'm not a rock crawling individual...your average AT or MT is good enough for my use...back country off roads in Oregon/Washington/Idaho and Montana are mostly what I'm after...go to and get to wherever I want so I can camp...
