Bad starter outta the box?

So take this all with a Grain of BS, not being a SB Chevy guy, but one small wire should go to your ignition system, the other to ignition switch. Ignition switch in run, sends power to solenoid relay on starter, and when that gets power, it sends 12v out the other small wire to ignition coil...
