Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. I've got stuff in works so I prefer not to break it up for the vultures yet. I'll post the outcome of the offers.
Hey guys,
I had a '97 I was going to throw these in, but a kid ran a stop sign and totaled it....long story about why I didn't just buy it salvaged. Anyway I've got an engine, transmission, transfer case, ECU, e-lock axels, and associated wiring....they've been in my garage for about 2...
GOD! I wish another AC for the back of the truck or at lease an air recirculator.......You would've thought with this iron pig's carbon footprint that Mr T would have planned for some global warming and made more AC options standard in north america.
:flipoff2:Welcome.....Hopefully you recognize the mud welcome.
I wouldn't do it....The way I understand it, knuckle grease in diff oil is both fine and common....Diff oil in the knuckle is bad. I'd watch the you tube video on knuckle/axle rebuilds, read a bunch more here and in the FSM, and...
I bet it is simpler....New fuel socks.....Open those tanks and take a look. I bet the bottom side of the socks are dirty slowing down fuel pickup from the bottom and causing air to get sucked in when the tank level gets lower.
Tres
Yep. FSM allows a big range and mine isn't as low as a bunch of guys on here even with thinner synthetic so I am not sweating it. Seems to be ok. I was just showing the bypasses and parts so someone else can give it a try. I will be doing it as a PM on my new engine to avoid sludge buildup...
Kernal,
No noticable change. I really don't have any rattling, clanking etc....on startup. Never had an issue with that.
I am using mobile 1 5W40 Turbo Diesel oil. Walmart $25/5Q....and bosch oil filters.... I know the oil is a little thin but I like it as a product and I'm not...
I don't remember using allen wrenches.....It's been a while since I did this but I feel like they were big cap bolts. Like 18mm+...... You can see the "plugs" in the images with the new and old parts to get a feel for the size and style. The engine had about 225K-240K when I did this.
Thanks...
Pics of the oil pump bypass parts....I think I could have the pictures mixed up. The part numbers are there and just do them both they are easy to get to and less than $10/bypass. See the sludge...
Hey Guys,
I did this a while back and have been slacking. It didn't fix the problem I was hoping to fix but it makes me feel a little better knowing that I cleaned some crud that needed to be clean.
I was trying to fix a PERCEIVED oil pressure issue. The gauge didn't feel like it...
