    Builds An Accidental Frame Off..................

I’ve been running my pins that way for a year or two as well. So far, no issues.

    Builds An Accidental Frame Off..................

So I spent the dollars on my 40 ($2100 installed while my rear end was gone through) and put and Auburn LSD in the rear. I’m extremely happy with it. No popping, snapping, or crunching when turning tight and my tires slip maybe 50% of a rotation before it engages. If you can, I 100% recommend...

Ok, need your input ladies and gents. After all my brake adjusting they are OK now but not quite perfect to me. My problem though is still the same. When I drive the Jalopy (25-35 minutes) and the rear brakes get warmed up they click when I press on the pedal. As I approach stoplights the click...

If you replace the master replace the slave too. Might even consider the line if it’s in bad shape. That’s what I did with mine. I figured if one part was old and wore out then the other must be too.

I’d like to replace my TRE’s eventually. Did you notice any difference in steering or responsiveness?

    1. No idea why I haven’t been getting any of your updates. I’m caught up now. 2.A fire extinguisher mounting system could work on your bottle possibly. 3. I just got my FJ back from the shop as the rear axle seals finally gave up the ghost. I went with an Auburn limited slip in the rear. I’m...

So I have discovered where the leaking of the master cylinder is coming from. It looks to me like my two brake sensors are leaking straight through to the brass connector my wires attach too then dripping down the wires. Any thoughts on this cause? Will just replacing them alleviate my problem...

Oh, and while under the vehicle using colorful language that would make a sailor blush, I couldn’t help but notice a handsomely sized screw stuck in my tire.

I completely forgot that when I replaced my master cylinder last time I screwed in the booster push rod to alleviate as much in line constant pressure as I could because of the large amount of drag I had on the front wheels. (It was a 4 drum master) A slight adjustment to the pushrod screw and...

How do you adjust the front disc calipers? That’s the weakest point most likely causing my brake light to come on on occasion now. Pumping the brakes once before applying them significantly increases stopping power and I don’t hit the floor with the pedal.

So now I’m having brake issues. I had a clicking in the rear brakes when they got hot so I popped the drums off. (Brakes ran hot in the front as PO had switched the front drum over to ‘76 and newer FJ40 discs but did not change out the master cylinder) Passenger side had oil on the pads and...

Builds The Clustertruck Rides Again - Refurbishing a 1975 Chevota

I must confess I cringed when you said you slid this solid metal rig into an embankment. I know these Jalopys are designed to go almost anywhere but seeing all the hard work you put into yours, plus their rarity and expense of repairing, wheeling them is both exciting and very unnerving. Mostly...

I had to take a few pics for insurance purposes but here they are. The Jalopy is mostly back in one piece. Only a 2 year project that I projected to take 6 months and way way less money, it went fast. (That’s sarcasm by the way and I’ll probably never do this again)

So I bolted both sides on normally with stainless hardware. Here is the result of the drivers side. Still a bit of a gap for debris to collect in. I’m not sure if gapping them out a bit with rubber grommets between the step and side at the bolt holes would be beneficial or not? Or would a long...

I’m going to put the side steps on possibly tonight. Anyone ever use rubber grommets or gaskets between the step and side of the body? I know it’s notorious for capturing sand or grime then rubbing and rusting out.
