    Who Dat?

Hey, y'all saw my 40!! As was astutely pointed out, it's definitely a 1970. The bezel is right side up too (pic below; ignore the wife's Jeep, she bought it before we met). What kind of monster do you think I am!? I didn't see a card left inside, but I know of you guys and lurk in the...

Seperating transfer case from 3 speed tranny

It's very straightforward, I believe there's a good walkthrough on Coolerman's website and the factory manual is good here as well. Things I remember from my rebuild... When you install a new seal between the transmission and xfer case, make sure the spring-side faces the transmission (this...

    Master cylinder carburetor fitment issues

I have a similar set up to you it looks like (early 70, trollhole 2F carb, brake booster, dual circuit master). I have the non-ABS 80 series master and it clears that same portion of the carb by about a centimeter, as the bore of that master is a straight cylinder without those downward facing...

Access to clutch and flywheel, 69 FJ40: Easier way?

I did my early '70 with the engine left in-place. It took me more time to remove the interior to get the transmission hump off than it did to drop the transmission/xfer case as one and and get the clutch replaced. If your oil pan or rear main seal leak, your rear motor mounts need replacing...

    Chunky Prestone

Short answer: You can't go by color, as the auto manufacturers specify the colors, and they can be different for the same type of coolant, or the same color for different types. Your Cruiser should be filled with traditional old-school (usually green) IAT coolant and not mixed with either OAT or...

    Is this a '69 FJ40

It should, and it looks like this one does in the second interior pic. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking! Looks like it has the choke pull, cig lighter, hazards (in the wrong spot), and two chrome jobbies that are probably front and rear heater. So it's missing wipers, vent pull, interior...

    Is this a '69 FJ40

Like other's have mentioned, quite a few things that don't look stock (I have an early '70). That's a 2F (with no oil cooler) and in '69 it was just the F. The alternator (not a Toyota or Toyota wiring it seems) should be on the lower right of the picture, but is in the right spot for a 2F...

    Totaled/rolled 40 value

I'd say $4500 would be pretty darn high, but then again, I've been shocked before by what some of these sell for. You can always start out too high, and then negotiate down. Just my 2c below... Worst option, toss on a price of $2500 for the whole thing and see if you get any bites. Unless...

    Putting up the new stable

Let me know when you're ready, I can help out! I'm only volunteering because I need to see your 60 PS setup, as I need to get that in mine before the fall and my fab skills are terrible! :)

    speedo cable hookup

If I were you, I'd alleviate the slack concern by just disconnecting it from down below so the cable is completely free, remove your cluster, fish the cable through and make the connection, re-seat the cluster, then reconnect the easy end. But that's just my 2c!

    Modern Radios

Since I saw a speaker mount question as well... I went with a pair of Yamaha outdoor speakers and I caught some Bazooka rollbar mounts on sale that I roughed up and painted black. Now that I see the loom, it does look a little rigged, but they work awesome, match the rollbar contour, and they...

    Modern Radios

Just to toss something else out if you don't want a hole in your dash, I put mine under the center console in a mounting box I sealed up. I never run the hardtop, so it helps keeps those with sticky fingers from seeing it. Under console stereo... by Tezmac posted Mar 25, 2018 at 9:16 AM

This is what self-hatred looks like.

So you'll be over around, what, 7 or 8 AM on Saturday to start on mine? It's just a normal carbureted 2F, so it shouldn't take you too long. :) Very impressive!!
