I think the older hinges have a longer rib on the door side of the hinge. The newer versions have a shorter rib. You can see the difference in the length of the ribs in the pic Mark posted.

This is drivers side… you really should have a pair of rusty doors to rob gear from, I have no idea as to what is inside or if it functions, nor am I going to try and determine that.
I actually have this set, they require a 1' spacer to clear disc brakes...........and a daughter on that Island.....she live on N just north of pleasure pier.....

I'm sure I have one somewhere......do you have all the linkage from trans to column?? Because those parts are mucho hard to access.....if not, I would seriously consider a floor conversion.....or better a 4 spd ...
